Do you think all the shows where the guy see 15 bazillion 160" bucks which are passed so on the third day he can kill a 180 class buck has caused a problem where when joe newbie goes out and sees a fork and 4 does he loses interest and is lost for good?

Growing up all of my brothers and sisters were exposed to hunting and fishing and we all did it with the parents as kids. I'm 58 now and with the exception of a little fishing, none of them do this stuff anymore, just me. Since they don't do it, their kids don't either. They all enjoy the fish frys and will take all the venison we will give them, but going out and doing it is not something they enjoy and / or will take the time to do. Electronic toys take up lots of their time. Guns are frowned upon by many. They don't get a full three months summer vacation anymore. Many are tied up in organized sports.Parents are afraid to let kids go out in the woods on their own ... the boogy man is going to get them. The hunter safety requirement can be a road block. Another issue is that there simply isn't the amount of available hunting real estate there was when we grew up. I'd guess my area has seen at least 50% of the habitat bulldozed or drained in the last 40 years. While I agree all these can be issues I think these 2 are the biggest.

I sure hope I get one. I'd like to discuss the lack of deer in southern Indiana. Too soon?

Very true. Even though I'm in Morgan Co. I'm not very far from Brown Co. and Nashville is never as busy as Martinsville so I've started using it. Where you go can make a very big difference.

Only thing I still need to get are broadheads for turkey; going to use my MX3's for deer. I have 5 arrows/bolts, that should get me by for a while. I need to do something on one property in Brown Co.; he said we could put up whatever we want. I'm seriously considering one of those new one way blinds. A ladder stand where it would do the most good during archery season would put us right at deer eyeball height as they come off the hillside so I'm not sure that's really all that great an answer. The property line is almost at the top of the hill so I can't catch them before they start down. A stand up towards the top would not allow me to cover as much as I'd like to; really have the best opportunity when they are in the bottom.

REMC isn't cheap either. I would not want to live in their area but IPL is definitely cheaper

At this point I trust nothing new from Remington. Were I to buy a new semiauto shotgun it would be one of the 3 B's

From what I understand Barnett was going to come out with one for mine but it never happened and retrofitting another voids the warranty so none for me. The limb dampeners seem to get mixed reviews on it too. I might just leave it alone

But these folks are pure anti-hunters. They do not want see anyone get pleasure from hunting and killing any animal. IMO - There will never be any deer hunting here, just deer killing by sharpshooters.. Which is precisely why it would take some very organized and different approach to explaining why death by hunter is in the county's, city's and community's best interest over paying sharpshooters. Fiscal responsibility is just one aspect of why that would make sense. That bunch still wouldn't care. It will never happen

I'm well past fed up with all this nanny state nonsense. How about a return to personal responsibility. If you want the individual to cover the incurred costs to rescue the his foolish behind because didn't wear a harness I'd be OK with that.

I got to shoot my new Warrior a few times yesterday, it was my first time with a crossbow. The velocity and accuracy was impressive so was the trigger. The noise was a lot louder than I expected, hopefully it can be quieted down a bit with some work. The silencers from Ten point are kinda pricey, maybe there're some cheaper alternatives on the web. The cocking process was a little awkward for me, I think I need more practice with that. It's a new experience and so far a fun one. Yeah same here; what impressed me in particular was the 40 yd shooting. After zeroing at 30 I shot a couple at 20 a couple at 40 and a couple at 50. After that I stayed a 40 and to see how it grouped up. 20 felt so close it didn't seem like it was worth wasting my time there. Maybe it's just mental but when I was shooting 50 I kept thinking, man that arrow is taking a long time to get there and there is certainly some noise, time enough for a deer to react to. 40 felt just right, not too close to be wasting my time but not too far away. I will definitely be using it for turkey this spring.
