Just had 14 does and yearlings walk by my stand within 20 yds. All smallish; some medium-sized does. Just had the same thing happen most deer I have ever seen on this ground in 21 years About 8 i had buck pushing two smaller does come by than 3 or 4 minutes later I thought I had another coming by with all the noise all of a sudden I had a herd of does and fawns come by had to be 15 or more I should of taken a doe but I have another young hunter coming next week figured I’d just let them be hopefully they hang around this area After Wednesday it’s game on regardless I don't blame you. Nothing is pressuring the does here so I'll probably get another chance next weekend. We saw 3 bucks here a week ago (wife missed a 10pt) but I did not see them today What county are you in?

Here he is. Shot him at 5:40 at 70 yds with my 358 wssm. The biggest bodied deer I ever shot, I bet he was 250 on the hoof. But that’s just a guesstimate Congratulations, what a stud buck. Outstanding!

My dad just saw 3 more not part of the group I saw. So that's 24 we've seen today between the two of us, so far.

#15 in road at least 50 yds away. #16, 17, 18 coming from my other side scared into swamp by 2 people walking down road (on their morning walk). No shot at deer or people (in case you are wondering). DNR dropped our antlerless quota to just 1 here in Steuben co. this year. This is the most deer I've seen in 5 years up here. My dad is hunting 150 yds to the west of me and he saw 3 small does ijust before my parade started. I love mornings like that! You will remember this morning forever I got a few video clips, I'll post them later

I've heard people say they get a lot of doors slammed in their faces when they go to property owner's houses, in person, and ask to hunt.
Have you tried writing & mailing a letter instead?
I found out the old lady who owned farmland next to my property lived in an assisted living facility, according to the county GIS website. So I typed out a warm letter to her asking for permission to retrieve downed game that I shot on my property if it runs onto hers and expires there. I went on and asked about the possibility of being able to hunt it as well. Gave my address and phone number and mailed it Thursday.
I just received a phone call from this nice lady today and she informed me that her son is the only person she grants permission to hunt the farm land I asked about BUT she gladly granted me permission to retrieve any game I shoot on my property that runs onto hers.
Good enough for me. But I think I might try this method of asking permission to hunt other properties around me.

I would be weary of subjecting a laptop to not only the weather conditions it might see in a hunting blind, but also to the pressure wave it would be subjected to if you discharged a firearm while occupying one...

What locations? Lol I’ll buy them all 🤷🏿♀️ One Walmart in Fort Wayne area (Apple Glen) shows they were marked down to $30. It is unclear if they actually had any left in stock when the price dropped that low. But I would check that list daily - you never know when the price is going to drop at your local WM.

I talked to someone from DNR about the state park hunts several years ago. He was telling me most of the parks they can get the herd size down to about what they want ... except in northern Indiana. I believe we were discussing Chain O' Lakes SP in Noble County that we were specifically discussing, and he said he didn't think they would ever be able to get the herd size down to the desired density. The habitat is just too good. Drive by there all the time, never been in it though... I know you have to put in for a draw hunt to be able to hunt deer on it. Friend of mine got drawn to hunt it 9 out of the last 10 years and he always gets a deer when he hunts there. Plenty of woods and water on the property - and corn/bean fields right across the street if the deer get hungry.

Further information about the terrain up here: Noble co. is mostly flat with a few hills here and there with many lakes and streams.
The southern part of DeKalb co. is mostly flat while the northern half gets pretty hilly; DeKalb county has few lakes but still lots of water sources (ponds, streams, county ditches, etc).
Steuben co. is even more hilly (in areas) and seems to have more woods and lakes.
I forgot to mention Huntington co. where I have also hunted (it is just south of Allen co. & Fort Wayne). It is hilly and has 2 large public hunting properties:
-J. E. Roush Lake Fish and Wildlife Area -Salamonie Lake
I've hunted both public and private land in this area of the state. Deer behavior can be best described by saying if a given property isn't frequented by humans - the deer tend to be very skittish. Opposite is true where deer and humans live in close proximity, year-round.

I have family on a lake in Noble Co. (I live next to Noble in DeKalb Co.). What Onebentarrow said is true about this part of the state - lots of deer, great deer habitat (water+food+cover) but 99% of it is private land and no one grants permission.
There are a few DNR properties up here you can hunt on but they get crowded quickly. Check out:
Pigeon River Fish and Wildlife Area Mallard Roost Wetland Conservation Area Eagle Lake Wetland Conservation Area Whirledge Wetland Conservation Area

Thank you for your response in the original UTV (ORV) registration required thread. I have a new question:
Are golf carts classified as ORV's or do they fall under a different classification?
If different, do you have the laws governing their use (or a web link to the Indiana code section pertaining to this)?

I'm on the Indiana code website and the text for off road vehicles with regards to registration with the state are confusing to me.
Say an Indiana resident buys a used (2014 or older) side-by-side/UTV from a private individual (also an Indiana resident) and has a dated and signed bill of sale. The UTV does have a VIN tag on it.
Said UTV has never been registered with the state before as far as is known (ie: no registration stickers are on the UTV)... Is this a problem?
The new owner of said UTV lives in a county that does NOT allow the use of the UTV on public roadways, so the new owner is only going to operate that UTV on his own property for purposes of farming, gardening, land maintenance; etc.
Does said UTV need to be registered with the state or is it exempt from this requirement?
What if the new owner wants to take this UTV onto a neighbor's land (with the landowner's permission) - does it then need to be registered?

Our governor just signed an EO restricting the free movement of Indiana citizens starting 11:59pm March 24th thru 11:59pm April 6. However, on www.in.gov/gov/3232.htm - it mentions that state parks will remain open and can be used by citizens. How does this EO impact the use of public Indiana lakes and waterways, including the use of a boat to catch fish?

Inspired by the original Fisherman harassment question; a few years ago I was bass fishing on a public lake and casting up towards shore next to piers and other boats moored to those piers but none were occupied. My line and lure never made contact with anyone's boat or pier; and my boat never came closer than 20' from any boat or pier. The owner of one of the boats saw me and came out of their house and started yelling at me for "fishing too close to their boat" (basically demanding I not fish so close to their property and to got away).
Would this be considered harassment, and if so, should I report such incidents to my local CO in the future?

Plenty of food and water around here (multiple ponds, clover, brush, corn, beans, etc) which is why I was concerned about how this particular deer looked. I have pictures of several other deer around the same time that look perfectly healthy.
