Nice! Hopefully the team continues to be successful. He definitely towers over a lot of those kids.

I think New Prairie plays Plymouth (my kids school) at the middle school level. My son is now a freshman, with a whole new set of teams to play. Let me know if they play, I’ll do my best to watch that one. Around here, New Prairie was always known for some monster kids on the line. Good for Luke for keeping that fear alive. He is a big boy.

I believe one of the only home games is the last one.

The 2nd game is in the books. It was the make up game after being cancelled from the heat a couple weeks ago.
Started off bad for us, 22-0 at the half. The coach must have lit a fire under their butts. He put Luke in at center. Luke said he played hard, and made a few tackles early on defense. They scored 16pts, but LaPorte scored as well, and the final was 38-16 I think they said. I could not attend.
Luke and other kids picked up on some chatter. His name got mentioned in conversation. The opposing coach said Luke was a monster, and played real strong.
Sounds like his efforts are being noticed! Go Luke!
3rd game tonight in Mishawaka area.

My boy played a team with 2 kids at 6-5 250 lbs. 1 was a tight end and 1 was d-end. The tight end was a beast. He is going to Marshall for college. The d-end was just as tough but not sure where or if he is going to play ball.

I guess I forgot to update this past week. Record is 1-2 now. The rest of the season is in trouble. The quarterback got sacked early on, and broke his foot. He was the star of the team, not only a good arm, but fast legs. So now they really got to grind it out to the finish. It hasnt dampened Luke's spirits (that he's shown). One of life's lessons at its finest!

Good to see Luke doing so well! Hopefully this season does not tank because of 1 or a few injured players. But I’ve experienced it with my youngest son. FWIW, if it’s helpful at all, I’ll share a story on keeping your options open. After my youngest son played high school football through his sophomore year. It was very disheartening, because they never won a single game that year. Meantime, he had been throwing shot and discus since eighth grade. Similar to Luke, one of the biggest kids in his class! One day, as a sophomore, I was out, measuring his throws in the high school yard. I didn’t have a clue how to coach him. I was a runner and captain of our cross country team in high school. And yeah! Y’all that see me now you can laugh all you want!😂 Anyway, on this given day, one of the University of Indianapolis track and field coaches happen to drive by. He pulled into the parking lot and walked up to us asking if he could give us some input. About an hour later, my boy was throwing 20 to 30 feet further than ever before. This coach actually came to quite a Number of his events, including him making it to State down at IU as a Junior and Senior. Even crazier, I thought he had a good chance for a full ride at Indiana State, the infamous track and field school. Ironically, he did get scholarship offers from Indiana State and IU for scholastics, nothing for his track and field endeavors!
Just my two cents worth Jay! Keep encouraging him and keep the options open!

I’ll try to find you if I can get there. Pretty sure I can pick out Luke. Not sure of your start time.

Well, the season has turned dismall. With both the starting and backup QBs getting injured, the prospects of success went downhill from there. Last 4 game scores iirc, 16-0, 36-0, 56-6, 12-8. Last game is next week, and I'll be going. Spirits still up, and Luke has really grown from the experience. Glad he is taking it like a champ and staying enthused. Should be uphill from here!

He is certainly gifted physically and if I remember correctly he is a good student as well. I'm no one special in the sports world but I'd think if he keeps working at it and stays healthy (take care of those knees) there will be someone interested in him by the end of high school.

I have a golf friend that was 6-8, 300 in high school and never played past college school sports (football and basketball). Bad knees. Now at 68, he can hardly walk. Now he is about 330-350. Hasn't changed much weight in all those years. Taken care of those knees and ankles.

My cousin was a wrestler in high school and college. 6-3, 320#. He was on the Olympic team and blew his knee out. He never was the same after that, the knee limited his physical activity a bit but he still ate the same. at one time I believe he was 550#. Doc said you gotta lose 200# before we can operate on your knees and hips (both were bad) He did drop the weight to have the surgery done but he put about half back on after surgery and he died 5 years ago. Owning a hunting lodge and sitting at the bar every night drinking scotch didn't help things any.....
As long as Luke keeps up with the healthy eating and exercise he will be fine. I wish he was in BB instead of FB though.
