The future is small deer COOP's between neighbors and small groups of landowners. "IF: you can get a few onboard with similar mgt. goals, you will reap the rewards. Of course the more acreage the better, but even controlling as little as 400-500 acres can have big rewards.

Nice story. It didn't talk much the next 10 years, but did summarize the past 50 well. I liked the senior paragraph. I'm making that change now to hunt past 65. Now, I have two ladder stands and a box stand. I think next year one more ladder stand or box stand. I'll be 62 this June. Time to retire!!!

From the article...
I don't know what the future holds, but I will say this...
Enjoy your time in the woods and be thankful that you still have access to hunting grounds and that you are still physically able to enjoy deer hunting.
A lot of folks aren't as blessed.

Thank Urban sprawl and land owners for lack of hunting land! The future is own, pay or public land …But some will just give up for sure!

The above has definitely had some affect, but another big factor is not many of the young kids hunt or have any interest in hunting. I've got a great hunting setup here that is wide open for my kids and nephews to hunt whenever they want, but you'd be surprised how little they actually do it. Too many other activities and hunting is low on their priority list.

I’ve seen you post along these lines before but why do you blame land owners for lack of hunting ground? When you say you have 3 choices own pay or public did the land owners not pay for the ground, I know I did and yes some of my reason was hunting ground not all but it did have a influence on what I bought. Just a question

Really hate what has happened to deer hunting. I’ve been at this “game” since 1968. A ton of things has changed in that time period. Most not for the better It’s become less and less enjoyable over the years. I probably would have quit 5 years ago if my grown grandson had not expressed an interest in deer hunting. I’m still in it for him. Back in the “good old days” most landowners didn’t care if you killed some deer off of them. The pursuit of big bucks has really turned it into a pay to play sport. It’s now become a own, lease or hunt public deer hunting sport. Pretty sad really..

That interesting that you and Greg both have the same outlook on landowners So do you think it’s deer hunting or maybe just people in general that’s caused the issue with not allowing hunting Do you fill landowners are wrong for trying to make a income of the property they own Again just a question I’d agree 100 percent deer porn has been a downfall of our sport but we’ve only got ourselves to blame for that

Too many other activities and hunting is low on their priority list. The kids these days don't want to work either, they would rather be on their phones, computer or hanging out with friends. I agree too that the hunting shows are "NOT" real world hunting. Most are on managed lands that are able to grow giants. So alot of people expect to see those kind of deer but that is not reality. Yep, it has become a rich mans game and you can kill big bucks if you pay for them. Now don't get me wrong you can kill big deer too on your own land or on public but it takes a lot of work that most don't want to put the time or effort in.

Supply and demand is the world we live in today IMO Deer porn as you call it has grown the sport more then it damaged it IMO.About everyone will post their Deer on social media now days especially if it a mature buck….🦌
