"New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new States shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or parts of States without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned..."
Both houses of California are controlled by Democrats. There is no chancel they allow the state to split. None. Zero. Never going to happen.

Not who Govern the state.

Ever.

Wow looking at some of the Turkey Earthquake photos there were some serious cracks that opened up! If the San Andres fault ever opened up like that Cali may slide into the ocean.

California splitting up comes up about every 5 years. It will never happen, ever.
Also West Virginia came to be during a time of war, basically cleaved from a foreign power for all intents and purposes.

It goes something along the lines of I never liked California that much anyway. Keep this in mind...California isn't an 800 mile long beach named Los Angeles. I lived in California for 58 years. I watched it go from an absolutely awesome place to live to an absolute crap hole. Those of us who lived in the sticks didn't do it...it was force fed to us by the large population centers. That same thing holds true with Oregon and Washington. Fact is, it's the same most anywhere. Folks can think what they want I suppose, but throwing everyone into the same pot is never the best approach.

One trip to Northern California and the Redwoods it will change your mind about the entire state. Most of the wine country is good living also IMO

Mean Gene,
In January 1957 me and my folks moved to San Diego.that was halfway through my senior year in high school. Talk about a culture shock’
I lived there from 1957 to 1963 and said no more. I came “home” to Evansville. Best move I ever made for me and my kids. I’m sure it’s quite worse there now.
Unfortunately lots of states are controlled by their big cities. Get away from them and we will find what we call “normal”.
I’ve got a grandson that has always lived and worked in big cities - Miami, Brooklyn and now Chicago. He doesn’t like it a bit, but that is where his line of work takes him. He is probably one of a few Chicagoans that votes straight Republican.

..... Unfortunately lots of states are controlled by their big cities. Get away from them and we will find what we call “normal”. ...... Same thing is happening in Montana. Bozeman and Missoula are killing the state. College towns...imagine that. Only reason I go to San Diego now is to get on a boat and chase tuna and yellowtail.

I agree 100% but the stupidity of their bureaucracy is starting to spread and that deeply concerns me.

Even worse is it's moving to Texas... one of the last major bastions of conservatism in the U.S.

What boats do you go out on? I lived in Oceanside for 10 years and went out about once a month during Tuna and Wahoo season. I've been on Spirit of Adventure (10 day), Qualifier Excel, pretty much every long range boat that was out of Fishermans Landing in the early to mid 1990's on 3-5-7 day trips. Was on the Red Rooster out of Oceanside down by Guadalupe Island too, that was a bear getting back - a storm blew in and it took us 22 hours just to get from offshore of TJ to the Oceanside harbor. I still have all the gear, I keep saying I'll drive back there and go out again one of these years. I went on a number of 2 day trips that Western Outdoors sponsored too.

Giant metro areas and the control the have over state politics is a great example as to why we were not created as a democracy and why Senators were originally chosen by the States and not the public voters.

I was out there for 2 months for work about 12 years ago and did an overnight trip. It was an La Nina year so we motored all night down off the coast of Mexico to get to warmer water. I don't remember the boat name but I think it was through H&M Landing. Out of the 13 boats in that marina only 1 fish was caught that day.
