Snow packed in the seams and froze. Beat everything free. Then ran his snowblower, a big Ariens. The snow drifts are well over the top of it, maybe 25-30" tall in spots.
SR 2 is at it's worse condition I have ever seen.
Take a minute and think about the poor snow plow drivers away from their families this weekend. It will take awhile to clean up this one.

My buddy just north of the border had to walk 3 miles home this morning. His plow broke so he dropped it off in town to get fixed, then got stuck going home.

I drove to Meijers in Valpo to get some of their Certified Angus Prime Rib for $5.99/lb. The electric cars are a joke. I passed a Chevy Bolt that was going 45 mph on Rt. 30 with is's 4 way flashers on. Inside the car all the windows were frosted over, the driver scraped a hole to look thru on the drivers side window and the inside of the windshield. Reminds me of my college roommate driving a 1960's era VW Bug in below zero temps going to college while I followed him in my Dodge Polara. At least I was warm! LOL
Rt 30 was pretty much clear in the right lane, left lane had hardpack snow. People were still putting along below the speed limit in the right lane, nobody passing the slow pokes (I did and had a few people pull out and follow me once I did. I just don't understand it.)

Their probably not used to driving in crappy weather, and/or not equipped.

Made the trip from Nashville to Avon and back today. Major county highways weren’t bad at all. The backroads near home are all still snow covered.

Youll make it no problem if you give yourself extra time, AND you know how to drive on snow and ice. Buddy in Plymouth says only about 2 inches snow there, but roads icy. Near a foot of snow west of South Bend towards Laporte. All roads including SR 2 and US 20 are shot as of 5pm Friday. Inexperienced drivers of bad conditions are the enemy. 😉 AND have good tires. Snow tires are the best, I put 4 Blizzacks on the truck for this winter and even though it's a 4x4, the amount of grip that they give is amazing over the factory M&S tires. Blizzak tires are the best tire I've heard of for winter conditions.

Blizzak tires are the best tire I've heard of for winter conditions. I wore out about 4 sets of Green Diamond Snow Tires. They have (or had) actual pieces of Tungsten Carbide chips molded into the tread, and as the tire wore they became more and more exposed. They acted like studs but didn't have the stud lack of traction on bare pavement. Ideally once the threat of snow was gone they came off the car. When I couldn't get them any more I switched to Blizzaks and I thought the Blizzaks had slightly less traction than the Green Diamonds did, especially on ice. They were relatively cheap too, since they were re-molded tires (NOT recaps). With the Green Diamnds, they said you had to put a minimum of 500 miles on them before the Tungsten Carbide granules would start to be exposed, as they put a thin layer of pure rubber in the mold before adding the carbide mixture to keep the mold from wearing out prematurely.

For everyone in southern Indiana, I bought a snowblower so we didn't get hardly anything...you're welcome.

While technically a blizzard, I didn't think of it as one here, just a dang cold 2 day wind event.
