Where does it say that there were live rounds in the gun? I guess I assumed it was a live round since someone was shot and killed with it.. I didn't know it was possible to shoot and kill someone with built up crud in the barrel? Didn’t some actor kill himself with a blank playing Russian roulette! Forget who that was….

Didn’t some actor kill himself with a blank playing Russian roulette! Forget who that was…. I remember years ago an actor named Jon-Eric Hexum put a prop gun to his temple and pulled the trigger. He died from his injuries. So it's pretty obvious that blanks can be dangerous in the wrong hands.

This was posted on FaceBook…
I’m sure there are going to be lots of rumors out there but I could see him saying and doing something like this….
“ Have seen a few unconfirmed reports so far that he was asked to reshoot a scene for whatever reason, and he, jokingly and in character, pointed the prop gun at the director and said "why don't I just kill you".... If that in any way turns out to be true, the POS should spend the rest of his life in prison”.

Right now I have no idea what's correct and what's not. In the end though, the truth will come out and those who should have made sure the prop guns were safe to use should have to answer for what's happened. And if Alec Baldwin pointed the prop gun @ the two people who were shot, then he should have to answer for that as well.

Thanks for posting WW, 1st article I have read that claimed a live round. I know nothing about prop firearms in the movies but sure would've thought they would modify the chamber to prevent a live round from being able to be chambered.

I bet all reports are going to cover the whole spectrum of possibilities. Pretty unfortunate for all involved.
I have seen some memes that are pointing out how anti gun Baldwin is and no doubt he is but this event is not going to be used to point out how ironic it was but will be used against us...wait and see.

Oh yeah, they'll twist and spin it like usual.

In this day and age of computer animation, why exactly do they even need a gun that goes bang? Why do they even need a gun that trigger moves? Most all sounds are put into the movie during post production. I'm lost on the fact it needs to be functional whether real or prop gun.

Every time I see Alec Baldwin,Pete Schweddy is the only thing I can think of. I have no clue how to post links, but I am sure some of you know exactly what I am referring to.

This is manna from heaven to the media. A nice juicy story to keep them from having to discuss Biden!

Never point ANY GUN at any thing you don't want to shoot, a fundamental rule of gun safety. My 7 year old and even my 5 year old daughters know that. Dad always taught me. "Never point a gun at anything that you aren't willing to destroy."

Reads like people that do not know anything about guns writing about guns. Was Baldwin trying to quick draw? All of these reports are sounding like guesses or just reporting to report something something.

Some blank cartridges contain a cardboard wad which can be lethal at close range. Tragic.

Now there are reports of the crew using the gun for plinking that morning. The report I heard on the radio said there were over 500 live rounds on the set (location?).

They're now saying it was a live round that was fired, and the gun was a revolver.

I had heard that... absolutely no excuse for that. The guns being used should be under the control of the prop master or armorer or whatever they call them at ALL times. They should also be the only one handing the guns to the actors with the declaration of "hot or cold" .. After the scene they should take back control of them. VERY lackadaisical.
