I wanted to see if I could go 1 month with no sugar in my diet. I needed to cut down before I left for an elk hunting trip. The timing also worked out with entering the dating scene at 41 years old due to an unexpected separation and ongoing divorce.
The first few days with no sugar I had a constant headache. At first I had two small meals a day. Mostly protein. Once I adjusted to eating smaller amounts I cut down to one meal around 4-6 pm every evening. I have fully adjusted to eating that small of an amount. I don't start feeling hungry until after 2 pm. My body has converted to running off of stored fat for fuel 100% of the time. I have noticed my energy stays at a high level all day. No ups or downs depending on the last time I ate. I try to exercise at least 5 days a week. Mostly walking with a 30 lb pack on my lunch break at work. I also do a stationary bike and some weight lifting at home some evenings. About 2 weeks in I noticed there were times where I had so much energy I had to do something to burn it off. I would be pacing around and couldn't set still. I would go for a walk or something to use it up.
I'm closing in on the end of my goal. I feel incredible and ready to tackle the terrain in Colorado. I have seen a transformation in my body. I want to keep going until I have used up most of my stored fat. I plan on keeping the same eating routine, just not as strict on the type of foods. I have set a new goal of having abs before summer of next year.
How much weight do you guys think I have lost doing this for 1 month? Make your guesses and I'll post the results Wednesday.

Before I guess can I ask what you started at? 235 lbs. I'm 5'6" on a good day. Built very sturdy. In 2019 I dropped 90 lbs training for my first elk hunt. I did it a little differently then. Over the last 2 years I gained 40 lbs back. This time I'm in a better place with my life and I want to make sure I stick to it. I feel so much better when I'm lighter. A new woman is pretty good motivation

Having six-pack abs will not help you on the dating scene, being honest with yourself and enjoying life your way will be a better dating tool. Good luck with everything.

Sorry to hear on the divorce! Hope everybody walks away ok. A bad relationship is no good for anybody.
Yes a new squeeze can be quite the motivation!! Luckily my wife is still all the "motivation" I need (or can handle). 😎
Did you cut out only sugar, or all carbs? I did low carbs and knocked off 40# in a couple months. Only put 5# back on and have relaxed to an easier menu for now. Ready to hit it again.
My guess will be 30# in one month. That's a big number, but a big guy has more easy goo to lose right off the bat. I have no problem losing 5-8# a week when I'm trying. Hope to join in the party again soon and get back on track.
Good luck with your goal.

I'm guessing 40#. BUT, I think you'd be better off eating the same amount as you do now, only 3x day.

I'll say 25. I wouldn't be surprised if it's a bit more than that though.
I've lost about 15 pounds in the last 6 weeks, but I've not been as committed as you are (ate a stuffed crust pizza Friday night). I am a yo-yo person also, putting on/off about 60 pounds every couple years. I know it's not healthy, but it's a lifelong struggle.
Sorry to hear about the divorce. Hopefully everyone will be better off for it after a few years.

You never realize how bad a situation is until you are free of it.

I am amending my guess already! Eating that little AND exercising, I now say 46#!!!
To add to my first post, I did mine without any exercise. Only because I always lost tons of weight before WITH a lot of exercise, but wanted to try without once since I could never keep up the pace. I ain't getting any younger, and aches and pains are getting more numerous. Mine is a little different as I got a diagnosis of diabetes, so it was time to get serious!
Unfortunately, once you get comfortable with a new squeeze, wife, family, whatever, you always seem to loosen up on discipline when you get comfortable and "finish your plate" to make everybody happy.

My buddy has lost 30# since early July, and he needed to. He simply stopped eating fast food, any sort of processed food, soft drinks and sweet tea, and switched to "low-carb" beer. That along with moderate exercise did it for him.
I've personally taken up early morning walks. I get up at 4 and have 2.6mi in by 4:50. I'm getting too old to jump up and down and lift weights. I'm down around 20# since spring.
I'm guessing 33# for scrub.

30 days with 0 sugar is very hard. Have you looked at the labels of what you eat? There's sugar in just about everything.
