A still shot from that mess clearly shows that knife in her hand, the victim bracing for the onslaught. I wouldn't want to be that cop for anything, but he made a very difficult choice in a split second and I think it's clear he made the right one.
It is very sad the girl came to that end, for all life has value. I do not know what combination of bad choices led her there. I am not her judge. But she made a very bad choice ( doubtless not the first ) and not only ended her life but possibly ruined the cop's.
I can't wait to see the media tie itself in knots trying to demonize the poor policeman.

I just watched the video. Very unfortunate situation for all involved.
For what it's worth, the male that tried to kick a field goal with the female's head should have been shot as well.

I briefly perused Facebook comments after seeing this one. A lot of emotional and uneducated responses, however there were a fair amount of self identified BLM folks that recognize a good shoot.
Unfortunate situation, but it's such a clear cut case that even a bystander could legally shoot her if it happened in Indiana.

Yeah you MAY get off... 35-41-3-1 (c) A person is justified in using reasonable force against any other person to protect the person or a third person from what the person reasonably believes to be the imminent use of unlawful force. However, a person: (1) is justified in using deadly force; and (2) does not have a duty to retreat; if the person reasonably believes that that force is necessary to prevent serious bodily injury to the person or a third person or the commission of a forcible felony. No person in this state shall be placed in legal jeopardy of any kind whatsoever for protecting the person or a third person by reasonable means necessary. Now, that said. I don't carry a gun to protect other people. I'll go on about my business.

Your save yourself a lot of money and headaches by going about your business.... like I said before you MAY get off! I don't know if I could do that. You are right in that you can get in trouble, especially lawsuit-wise. However, I don't know if sleep again if I just watched someone be murdered out of fear of legal trouble. Not that I'm a saint, but I don't want that on my list come Judgement Day. I personally believe that's a must-act situation, gun or not. I just hope I would move fast enough, and not stand there with my mouth hanging open. In any case, our policeman did not have that option. He acted and I believe we agree that he acted properly.

I am happy the officer had a cam on and it took some very good video. The narrator made some valid points. Too bad the media does not report like him.

While you, I (or the guy on the video) may think this shooting is justified, I have a feeling that we've not heard the last of it. Especially when the lawyers and politicians get involved.

IIRC correctly, in Indiana a shoot that's determined to be justified, the shooter is immune from civil penalty. I'd have to look that up to know the specifics

Very good shooting skills. He didn't hit the victim and didn't go crazy and dump his mag on her.

I think that law was a result of the woman that shot the guy beating the LEO on her lawn.

Exactly... the average citizen don’t have them skills! Really? Very few I say... most don’t practice that much! IMO I am sure some can or will attempt that shot but the average gun owner I say not . Especially with the ammunition shortage ...
