Cop pulls you over “you know why I pulled you over?” No officer “it appears you have an illegal brake modification” If you were involved in a accident and they found not OEM on the lines you could be in hot water even if it wasn't your fault. I bought it like that I didn’t even know it was possible to do that to brakes

I am sure any brake line modification would fall in that code if there is a code! That entire car maybe a moving violation when it done ... ha! Cop pulls you over “you know why I pulled you over?” No officer “it appears you have an illegal brake modification” Guess I been lucky .. never had the police pull me over in a passenger car and brake out a creeper!

Depends how the brake repairs go. Probably not. Slid into this for $500 and fixed a few minor cosmetic things. Can't beat that for commute miles.

I bought it like that I didn’t even know it was possible to do that to brakes Then you can go after the seller for not selling a safe vehicle. A guy I know sold a car to a lady and she took him to court over the repairs he did to it. She won and he had to pay to have the car fixed correctly.

Pretty bad when even I knew what a line wrench is.
Anyway, you're talking about the line where it goes into the caliper, correct? Also the rubber hose section is a flex part, and yes it should stay. Here's an idea that'll save you a headache down the road. Just replace the caliper and the brake lines and be done with it. Having dealt with the issue on an old cherokee, if you have one bad spot, you're going to have several more and you WILL break the line when you are working on it. What you have into the car, adding another give it take $300 to replace the caliper and the brake lines you'll still be ahead of the ball game. Even cheaper route would just but a roll of brake line and a flaring tool and make them yourself. If I look, I have a flaring tool somewhere.

Maybe you show me what you are talking about. If I see it 1 or 2 times I bet I can figure it out after that.

Get the parts. I'll put em on for you. Trust me. Got enough wood to split for you to pay me back. Not sure how your wife will take it that she has wood to split but I'll leave that up to you. Bring the boy too. On second thought, maybe not. There are some sticker bushes by the wood pile.

Don't downplay my role in it all.

Awesome on you for tackling it yourself.
I fully confess I'm a complete chicken**** on that kind of stuff and willingly surrender my wallet to the "prps."

I get intimidated but then watch 20 hours of youtubes to judge complexity then take the plunge. Now that we have a spare vehicle I can afford to have one in the garage while I mess up once or twice.
