I have hunted MANY draw hunts and I am well aware of the rules. That being said, did they reduce the number of hunters at them this year? I was lucky enough to get a good state park draw, but nothing else. I have talked to several guys that drew nothing.

Been getting harder to get drawn for the last 5 or so years. Used to get drawn for everything I put in, lately it’s hit and miss. As far as state park hunts, this year I finally got drawn after an 8 year hiatus......not by choice.

Charlestown state park. I’ve hunted there 5 times in the past. Every single time I’ve tagged a buck and even a few times does. Two times I tagged all three of my available tags full. The plus side is I quite literally live next door to it.

I asked and got confirmation on that at orientation on Friday.

I still think it is hilarious some of this park hunts are tagged as reduction hunts, yet they don't say shoot a doe only or stop inviting back anyone they hear is passing on does. Everyone knows if herd reduction is the plan, the females are the key.

Make it doe only and watch the number of applicants drastically drop.

Everyone knows if herd reduction is the plan, the females are the key. With the central draw system now, I can see where that would be difficult. But, when each park did they're own draws, some people were excluded from participating because of previous actions.

Do tell Rules say first deer.... Hmmm... Also I been to Indy office in the past inquiry about park hunts and all the folks that had applied was listed there for drawing. A lady actually advised me where to apply for because few applicants

I definitely shoot what we comes by me first. Last time just happens to be a good buck and a doe. Doe was first and after I shot her I saw the buck a little ways behind. Didn’t even know he was there until I shot her. I’ve killed does, button bucks, spikes, and one good one in these park hunts. Just an opportunity for extra deer meat for me.

Make it doe only and watch the number of applicants drastically drop. Which defeats the purpose of the offering, IF they're purpose is for reduction purposes. I understand after numerous discussions, this is not the case for all draws.

If it were a real problem, it seems like they could just make you use your buck tag on the park hunts.
From an outsider's perspective though, it seems like the hunts have been pretty effective overall.

From an outsider's perspective though, it seems like the hunts have been pretty effective overall. My issue with it is two parts: -It doesn't make sense logically in some of the draws to call them reduction hunts, yet see or hear nothing but bucks posted from them LOL....unless all these parks are just void of does I find that hilarious. -The other part fully admit is just bitter from never being drawn (one time it happened), and I am willing to shoot the first offered shot on any deer as they request. LOL so just bitter guy...maybe I am getting old LOL
