To me a trophy deer is one that you'd be satisfied with to put up on the wall. To me, a trophy doesn't just mean inches of antler. Heck, to me, I'd get a full body mount of a spike if it was a piebald - that's a trophy in my eye. Exactly....

lol.... hope you really don't believe all you posted! SMH Why not? I happened to agree with a lot of what he just posted. I've seen way too much of this happen over the years to say it isn't so.

That's what hunters think a "trophy" is. What the non-hunters and anti-hunters think we think a trophy is is quite different. Deserved or not, "trophy hunting" leaves a bad taste in the non-hunter's mouth.

I really don't see all that ..... sorry. Actually it is all because of buck deer which can be extrapulated out to "Trophy Deer". Been in this game a LONG time and a LOT of what he posted is spot on.

O.... Iam sure if someone wants to look hard enough they can find bad in any Trophy Deer or Trophy hunting.
Personally I don't see that much bad happing within the groups of folks I know that want to kill mature deer and Trophy Hunt.
If anything Trophy Deer and Trophy hunting has grown the sport to what it is today.IMO

And as such, it may also be the very thing that turns hunting from something many people can enjoy to something that a privileged few will.

I guess time will tell.... but in alreality there has always been the have and have nots in society! I really don't think that's anyone's goal for the most part is to push others out of the sport. But the popularity and the advancement of equipment may make that more possible to happen..... sad!

I personally know people who have lost access to property they`ve deer hunted since the mid-1970`s because leasing agents approached the owners and offered them high dollars so that they in turn, could charge hunters for access to the property because they believe there are "trophy deer" available on this property. That`s exactly how the blue collar guy get`s squeezed out, and it`s due to the antler obsession.

You know who I see being chastised the most? People who want to go kill mature bucks. Like it’s something evil to pursue the smartest and strongest animals of the particular species... if you are happy with inferior animals then so be it but don’t push that on everyone else. Every time I see a guy kill a nice deer he is labeled a trophy hunter like it’s a bad thing. How exciting would it be if you were watching boxing and they had amateurs getting beat up by pros? Not very exciting ? That’s why we have things like one buck rule so we can all kill one mature buck and not settle for a deer because “it’s a nice archery buck”

And then, when they call animals they don`t consider to be trophy animals, "inferior". By the way, I`ve never seen "a guy" get labeled a trophy hunter just because he killed a nice buck. The guys who get that label are the guys who think everyone else should live by their standards.

Who are you to tell a “trophy hunter” what they can and can not think is an inferior deer? Imagine how you would feel if you killed a world class whitetail only to be accused of poaching, baiting, and illegal hunting practices in general.
