The latest... Hey, We updated the EHD map this morning on the EHD website - www.in.gov/dnr/fishwild/8541.htm The number of reports keep coming and it keeps expanding. We have also included the counties where we have collected samples. Thanks for getting the word out about reporting dead deer. That has been really helpful in tracking this outbreak. Cheers, joe Joe N. Few spots in state are dry but not in drought conditions , mine included. Most central Indiana got heavy rain last night and north part state has been as well. Unfortunately southern keeps missing it. Forecast calling for rain chances next 3 days though.

This summer has been one of driest in the last 20 years. Half my trees are dropping it leaves. Tulip popular, wild cherry, and maples will be bare in a week or two.

We are in a mild drought here too, the weekend storms mostly missed us to boot. My pond is down 35" vertically.

Todays US AG Drought Monitor list only D-0 conditions in central and southern IN and a small D-O area in Ohio. D-O conditions are rated as abnormally dry But not considered drought conditions yet. We had 2" rain on July 28th and couple less than .01" showers since. Definitely need some soaking rains but my area in southeastern Indiana is nowhere near what conditions were in 2009 and 2012. Went over 35 days with no rain in 09 if I recall correctly. Pretty good chances Tues and Wed according to local news.

Wayne I have a tulip poplar in my circle drive. End July it lost a lot of leaves and was turning brown. On 28th July we got 2" rain and within a week it was back to as green as can be..

I have 4 of them and now turning yellow to brown. Trees already dropped 20% of leaves. Only the lowest ground is just green and yellow with a few leaves dropping. No rain Sunday and a trace Saturday. I was painting my steps and propane gate and didn't stop.

We have had just enough rain for things not to be considered a drought here in Madison, but it's mighty dry. I saw an article somewhere about EHD supposedly becoming a problem, but I don't recall where. I hope you are right and it's no big deal.

I see the regular complainters on FB want the DNR to change the bounus quota's now EHD has been found.... SMH! Only way that can be done now is with a emergency rule! That's not gonna or has ever happened but they don't get it.

Sounds promising for rain tomorrow afternoon and chances Wed. Thus and Fri. I would love to see 1" or more.

I consider EHD a lot bigger issue then CWD. Switzerland county between East Enterprise and Fairview in 2012 EHD was devastating (ground zero). Numbers still have not rebounded and my guess it never will. I also have noticed not as many hunters either.
