I consider EHD a lot bigger issue then CWD. Switzerland county between East Enterprise and Fairview in 2012 EHD was devastating (ground zero). Numbers still have not rebounded and my guess it never will. I also have noticed not as many hunters either. I'm southwest about 15 miles and have friends in that area. Yes it was hit hard but you might be surprised. Have a good friend that owns 2 farms just outside of Aberdeen and he is seeing more deer than ever and has pics of 2 bucks close to 170 class.. this year. My area is ridiculous but large tracks and all neighbor's manage for a good population. Even in 2012 I only found 1 dead deer on our 200 acres. Looks good for rain this afternoon and next couple days. Headed home early to reseed a fall plot and try to till and seed another before storms roll in around 3 to 4.

I know Aberdeen and between there and Fairview is some awesome hunting. Three of the farms I hunt are in that area. Last year I saw a monster. Made my 161 scored 10pt a small one. It was non-typical (20-30 points). It was a few minutes after dark. I waited to let a small buck pass. I could just see the rack against the sky. I agree, I see older and better sized bucks the last two years. We found 11 and neighter (256 acres) found 13. We only checked 2/3rds of 101 and 256 acres.

I am not sure if EHD is any better or worse than CWD, but I do know it can certainly affect deer populations. I also know I am glad to see the DNR reacting and trying to use technology to keep tabs on this. Hopefully this will help the DNR better assess Bonus numbers or even adjust them (or at least hopefully go and see what the damage is). I know I was frustrated with the lack of this sort of activity in the past from our DNR.

Hopefully, CWD stays that way.

Don't hold your breath on them adjusting bonus numbers now that would take a emergency rule which has never happened for EHD in the past! Now where not in a reduction mode I say that why your seening more action within the DNR IMO

Cwd is a joke. Ehd can be a real problem. Show me some scientific proof or instances on cwd.
