I wouldn't like it a bit, even with a saddle. But to hear or read some of the old-timers talk, they'd stand on a 6" diameter limb or sit in the crotch of a tree all day, so I guess it can surely be done. As long as you're securely tethered with a good harness at all times it ought to be safe.

I would make sure AFLAC is paid in full. No way I could make it standing on that. Exactly.....I hunt to relax not to be stressed out wondering when I will fall! PASS

Swinging grapevines and all. One of our games was for several of us to climb a tree that was sized just right that we could get it to sway back and forth and finally ride it all the way to to the ground. Then on the count of three all but one climber would get off. The one still hanging on got a whiplash ride. So bowhunting out of a tree by standing on n a limb was no big deal.. I missed my first two bucks that way.. 😉

Not to terrible to turn around on, though im wearing tennis shoes. I wear Danner vitals when I hunt which is pretty much an 8 inch tennis shoe. This thing is rock solid on the tree, no wiggle at all. I think Ill like it. How exactly are you planning on using that? It's hard to tell from the photo, but I don't think you're wearing a saddle. Do you have a safety harness on? So initially I was just going to use it with a regular harness and stand as normal but I just went ahead and ordered a saddle today. It was inevitable that I would try it so might as well get it over with.

I’ll take the crotch of a comfortable tree over that any day of the week! It makes me sore just looking at you in it.

Now with the saddle you’ll be able to hunt absolutely anywhere. No more hunting trees.

Let us know how you like it. I have a kestrel and really like it.

The kestrel is the one I was looking at. I was also thinking about the flex.

Me thinks maybe some guys dont know what a saddle really is .... that platform with a good saddle and rigging will likely be more comfortable and safer than any stand most have used.
Ive not taken the saddle plunge yet but man do they look interesting. The ability to hunt almost any tree .... game changing in a lot of areas.

Ive not taken the saddle plunge yet but man do they look interesting. The ability to hunt almost any tree .... game changing in a lot of areas. Thats our big selling point. One of the properties we enjoy hunting only had 11 deer checked in for the 2017-2018 season. Gotta be creative to kill deer there, IF you can find a tree in the right spot, 8 feet is the average treestand height. Ground is typically out of the question as it limits visibilty. Its a challenging place but we love it. Weve killed some great deer there but nothing consistent, i think this is the ticket to consistency. With my new found love for hang and hunt, and bouncing around public properties, this fits in to that style well.

If you haven't...google John Eberhart and you'll find quite a bit of info on "saddle hunting". He's been doing it for years.
I remember looking @ pics of this guy hanging 30 feet in the air with a saddle years ago. I kinda thought he was nuts...LOL. Apparently he was onto something big even back then.

Are there any size restrictions on these types of stands?
Say a guy is 6"5 250 lbs no problems?

Are there any size restrictions on these types of stands? Say a guy is 6"5 250 lbs no problems? I don't think 250 lbs would be a problem as the cutoff seems to be 300 on the most commonly used gear I've seen. I'm only 6' so I'm not speaking from experience, but I'm not seeing how the height would be a problem either.
