Give or take a couple items this will be my pack going in and out. Hawk helium sticks at 2# each, predator platform at 3# (between bag and frame), my camera arm is a little under 6#, camera gear is another 5# or so. Its 9# lighter than last year and carries like a dream on the frame. Still waiting for my Aero kite which ill wear in and my linemans belt will probably be attached and draped over my neck. Ill add some weight with the tether which will be made of 11mm samson predator rope, likely 12 feet long so I can double wrap the tree.

Fairly similar to my likely setup going into this year except I have a Kestrel and no filming equipment.

My saddle shipped today, pouches ordered for various things. Tethers completed with Samson predator rope and sewn prusiks. There will be some more trial and error as I start practicing from the saddle but I believe I have a functional baseline.

I played with this today in the back yard. I made all new tethers out of 11mm samson predator rope (same rope as the bridge) and sewn 8mm prussiks. I tied a figure out on the tree end and a simple overhand on the tail end as a last safety measure, that will clip into my biner. First trip in the tree was awkward, just trying to make adjustments. I had ordered an extra prussik in case i decided to go with an adjustable bridge, im glad i did. I looped the prussik on and clipped it to my saddle and got it where I wanted it. I took a few shots and mainly checked what kind of shooting angles ill have. I'll say that there really isnt a weak side with a saddle. Ill need to work on moving more smoothly more than shooting, every arrow i shot went where i wanted it too. Ill need to get more elevated to work on the downward angle but I dont expect much issue. Here are a few picks of my set up. The large pouch is my linemans belt which will always be attached on one end. On the right is my range finder (still not convincrd i eant to use the reteactable tether) and a grenade pouch that will hold my pull up rope. And the small biners are for attaching climbing sticks. I still need to work out how im going to attach my platform so I can go straight up the tree and have everything handy.

For whatever reason ive found myself shooting low on my strong side (the tree is 12:00, so shooting to my left at 7:00). Im only a couple feet off the ground shooting to a target 25 yards away, i shouldnt even have to bend at the waist for that so im not sure whats going on. More practice.
Manuevering around the tree has been easier.

Seriously, with this much effort, I hope you kill the biggest deer of your life this year.

Me thinks maybe some guys dont know what a saddle really is .... that platform with a good saddle and rigging will likely be more comfortable and safer than any stand most have used. Ive not taken the saddle plunge yet but man do they look interesting. The ability to hunt almost any tree .... game changing in a lot of areas. Well, I finally got tired of looking and got to ordering> I got the same platform from tethrd and also go their Mantis saddle. I didnt realize how long their lead time would be so it may or may not arrive in time to do much with it this year but I am looking forward to trying it out.

I too have chosen to try out the saddle this year. I ordered a tethrd saddle and it took me a couple months to get it. Early impressions are that it will be comfortable but it will take me a while to get used to it. I’ve never felt 100% at ease in a tree stand especially when trying to move into position for a shot but this will definitely help. I’m thinking that I will probably wear it in some of the tree stands I have set to help me get used to it.

I made an aider today that I can move with each climbing stick. It gives me an extra 22 inches with each stick, almost like having 2 more climbing sticks. I tend to subconsciously end up around 15 feet using 3 -36" climbing sticks. Hopefully this helps me go a little higher. Should work out to roughly having the top step right at 20 feet, could probably stretch it out more but the spacing would be uncomfortable for me.

Great idea. I also got some hawk helium sticks. I like them a lot. I Also put some stealth strips on contact points and it did a nice job silencing them

I have hawk helium sticks too. I like them overall. Got some materials on order for a different climbing method I'm trying to work out.

Thanks, $5.78 for 12 feet of 1inch tubulr webbing, and scrap peice of washer drain hose and soem elctrical tape.
I put some glow in the dark tape on there also to help me see it in the dark.
I used those stick all last season. First modification was the lone wolf versa buttons and PMI cord. I might try out amsteel next season.
