Took a coffee break and since the sun started to come out I think I'll stick it out. Moved a quarter mile from this morning's spot. Hoping they'll come to the fields now since it's warming up.

About noon I look up to see a longbeard on the field edge. 80 yards. He clearly sees the decoy. He walks into the woods on a logging trail and walks off. I wait a little while then call. He gobbles. And gobbles and gobbles. Eventually I answer then go quiet. Little while later he shows back up. Same spot on field edge and slowly walks up a hill and outta sight. Clearly saw hen decoy again. Won't come out to field. Well once he disappeared I quickly moved my blind into woods on logging trail. If he comes back for the third time he's getting it.

This was rockin' my head this morning...Just a few struttin' (and preening) hens!!!: www.youtube.com/watch?v=slq3ljlBfkIFrom this morning since I lose signal: Faced with a field of butterweed so not at all conducive to the decoys but I put them out on the edge anyway. Not a single gobbler heard nor seen. Called these hens from 100 yds out to my dekes. Watched 'em for over an hour! As you can tell, I decided to climb a treestand and hunt from there to optimize my view! Might be all she wrote for my season! Probably what I deserve for messin' with da duster and his jake take!

Karma. Lol. Still plenty of time. At 2:30est, I saw birds in 3 different fields on my way in to work. They are out there!

I'm tired, long week and this evening was herding a bunch of 4-5 y.o. on the baseball field, it's rough. The league for some reason scheduled their games at 7:30pm we called the game in the 3rd inning due to kids laying down on the infield.
None the less at 3AM I will leap out of the bed like I always have when it comes to hunting (and fishing). Good luck guys be safe, enjoy the woods and fields atleast!

Out here for my final attempt at putting one down. Sitting on a pipeline. Not hearing any gobbles but I did cross two deer on my walk in.

Just took video of a doe checking out my avian decoy. No gobbling. Debating on moving to another area. I've sat long enough, can't move on them if they don't gobble.

I guided our new worship pastor from church this morning. He had until 8:30 before he had to go to his son's soccer game. It was dead as can be and about 8:05 he looks out and there's four birds in the field. Looks like they're going the other way. I do some calling they see the decoys and slowly work their way towards us. It's four Jake's and I tell him to shoot one as it's the last half-hour of his season. He moved here from Louisiana but hasn't gotten a bird in four years. When they came to the decoys it took a while for them to get their heads separated enough for a shot. He was finally able to put the dirt nap on one with just a few minutes to spare.

I seen and heard a lot this morning. Just no shot opportunities. Looks like rain this afternoon but, I'll be in my Redneck blind with deer sticks and crackers regardless

Hunting HNF this morning. Had a bird gobbling on the roost. Set up on him but at fly down he came maybe 60 yards from me and just flanked me on his way to parts unknown.

Good luck to those sticking it out. I finally got it done about 7 this morning on a nice bird. Might be my best season since I got the slip on hunt after hunt & frustration was high. Stuck with & paid off this morning.
