I used the Huntstand app last night to measure my drag out of the spot where I hunted HNF yesterday. It was 1022 yards, 0.58 mile. 3/4ths of it was uphill. Thankfully only the first 65 yards was steep. If you guys don't have a long, plastic sled to drag your deer in, get one!! It only took me 45 minutes to make the drag solo. This from an out of shape fat fella that uses an atv on private ground! And it works even better in snow!! Good advise, do you have a brand name on the one you are using? Bob

Got mine from a Rural King years ago, but this is the exact one: www.walmart.com/ip/Terrain-Deer-Drag-Sled-Olive/19503957Honestly, the multi-colored one that I saw in Lowe's the other day would work just as well by drilling a few holes and adding a little rope like they did on the Terrain model, but the one at Lowe's was only $13!

Bob Bob, I have the Eagle Claw jet sled. No complaints. www.eagleclaw.com/jsled-jet-sleds. Won't hunt without it

I will chirp in here as well, have been using a Cabela's ice fishing sled for 4 years now and it is great. I have hauled deer, elk, pronghorn and a bear with it. On snow it is AMAZING!!

Menards has nice sized black ones for $19.. Looks pretty sturdy too...

Was just sitting eating a late lunch and wondering how many deer were making someone very happy today. I love the cold, overcast days like this morning. Especially if there is an impending front like the rain coming into SW Indiana this afternoon.

Out w my daughter for our final hunt in Indiana this year. She has the .44 mag and looking for a fat doe. I'm thinking of trying to go out in the morning for the opener of Ohios muzzy season.

I thought about going out today to just be out. Also have always wanted to kill a deer on my birthday for some reason. But ended up spending the day with my daughter before she heads back to college. She did take me out for a birthday breakfast and my son also showed up at the restaurant. Then we went to Judson saddle shop to have a couple knife sheath made for a couple that I built this winter. So it turned out a great day. Even if we wasn't live from the stand. Good luck to those still at it for the last weekend.

Yesterday was my last hunt for the season. I didn't fire a shot all year, but, I still had a great time being in the woods every chance I had. I hunted Shades state park twice and a muzzleloader hunt at Camp Atterbury, along with everything else. I had plenty of chances to draw blood, but kept holding out. No regrets, I guess that comes with age/maturity,at one time, I could not have said "no regrets". I checked the cameras today and the ONLY daylight picture was on New year's day at 2:00 P.M.and, wouldn't you know it,it was the buck I have been trying to kill for 6 weeks! Lucky for him, at that time I was being DESTROYED by a stomach virus! LOL,he will be better next year. It's been great,as usual reading this thread all season. Time to start planning for next year!

I wish we could have had this weather last weekend! Amen to that. Just got a call from a friend who was driving by a reduction property I can hunt. Saw 9 deer in a cut corn field. I have avoided that property because the owner has allowed too many hunters. Plan on a mid week hunt. Maybe save my season. Just bought my reduction license. Fingers crossed.....

Walked up the hill on my west property line and onto the yard

Checked my cameras today. I got a really good video of the buck I was after at 7:00 P.M. last Sunday evening. Already shed his left side. When the snow melts, I really want to find it!

With the snow coming last Friday and since then I have seen deer out munching at 4pm in the edges of fields. I had not seen deer on the commute to and from work since October with just a couple exceptions. I saw more deer out this weekend than all the seasons combined! Good luck!!
