They had a good thing going with the ammo rebates last year but i was noticing their latest guns they’ve been producing looking cheaper and cheaper like the RM380. When a company stops innovating they die especially in today’s gun market. I know I’m a frugal buyer. The past few years I said guns were too expensive, sometimes it takes a President like Trump to bring the prices back to reality. And how is it that with the millions Remington made under Obama why didn’t they set back some savings? Companies rise and fall on the decisions they make

Maybe that's why TC has extended their promotional effort on their Compass model. With the 75 dollar rebate you can get a new bolt action rifle [minus the scope]for a few bucks under two hundred. Ordered one in .308 just for the helluva it. Sure didn't need it, but at that price I figured why not. They even have the 5R rifling. www.kygunco.com/Product/View?ItemNo=111667

Just could not pass it up.

Remington has had some flops over the last 10-15 years or so...The 105cti shotgun, the 887 shotgun, the R51 pistol. The quality in their bread and butter guns is down and they nearly killed Marlin.
Can they make it back? I don't know. The other new pistols they make seem cheap to me and while they have been pushing the new V3 shotgun hard, I don't know anyone who has actually purchased one.
They are also offering a new "lifetime" warranty on their products...which begs the question...
What good is a lifetime warranty if the company isn't around anymore?

With the $950 million debt pile, it doesn't look good for someone to buy them out. Too much debt. That's what happens when they hire bad management (CEO) and don't invest back into the employees and infrastructure. I did some digging and it appears Remington is (was) very very top heavy. Pension Plan shortfalls is around 29 million. Wake up America.

Yep...they have went downhill. I saw an 870 at Dicks and it was priced lower than a similar Mossberg. How cheap can they get?
I own three Remington 870s.....
An 870 TB Trap gun (circa 1971)
An 870 Wingmaster (circa 1965)
An 870 3" Magnum Express (circa 2002) deer and turkey gun
All have given me excellent service..
If I was in the market for a new shotgun I doubt I would buy Remington again...

It's really kind of sad considering the quality of their older products. They definitely screwed up somewhere along the line to be going bankrupt during such a boom period for the firearms industry though.

Same as the Government, borrowing money they don't have and shutdown (close). When will the District of Columbia Government shutdown for good. There are many companies CEO's that model the Government's way. They will all fall someday.
Or some say: bite off more than they can chew.

It's either a very good, or very bad time to add an Youth 20 gauge 870 Express magnum to the cabinet.....

I had an 870 that was an anniversary present. About 1995. That thing was one of my best. Rugged, simple, and reliable as heck. Shot a lot of deer and other game with it for years, then got careless and let it get stolen.
I looked at a new 870 recently. Maybe it was just me, but it just did not have the solid feel of my old one. I can't describe it exactly, but it was not the same gun.
Speaking of the government, how does this work?
The US is in extreme overwhelming debt, that gets worse every minute. So Congress cuts income (taxes) and RAISES spending.
Now I am just an old country boy, but in the times in my life that I was going farther in debt, I dealt with it by RAISING my income and CUTTING my spending. But that is just a dumb old country boy.

Savage started selling that cheap black plastic junk 25-30 years ago and everyone followed suit. Remington jumped in big time and all of these manufacturers are beating each others brains out to sell $400 guns at lower and lower margins. If they are to survive, they need to get out of the low price stuff, drop at least 50% of their product line and get back to focusing on the good quality firearms they built their business on; the Rem 700, 1100, 870, etc.

Hope not. I'm in the process of moving a couple of guns to be able to buy a matched set of their sportsman 1100's. One in .410 and one in 28 gauge.

I would take mine out west on a $10K hunt every time before I would a new Remington

Or maybe it's just a good gun.
Don't get me wrong, I've owned Remington products in the past and was proud to do so. Unfortunately they have dropped a few turds in the bowl over the recent past, and that (along with cheapening up their bread and butter products) has hurt their business.
I hope Remington finds a way out of their mess, but to do it they are going to have to win over a lot of folks who haven't been thrilled with Remington products for quite a while. And IMO, the only way to do that is to restore their reputation for quality and bring out new, innovative products so as to try and win back the customers and market share they have lost.

My buddy bought the new remington 12 gage autoloader. We were shooting skeet and he was complaining of blow back into his face. I was shooting my 1187 without same issue. I shot his once and sure enough it was peppering my face. Very uncomfortable and unsafe.
He researched it and found a few fixes. Most successful was a piece of electrical tape inside the fore grip covering the exhaust.
I was floored that remington would allow that to continue with that design.
