Nope.
They say this year's is only 10% effective.... And getting it multiple years can greatly increase risk of alzhiemers

I usually get really sick once a year and have 4 kids. I get sick the least of anyone in my household. Never have and never will get a flu shot.

The flu shot is now a synthetic version and guess of the strain that is expected to go around. The old shot was a "dead" virus that wasn't always actually dead. I still pass on the free shot. I try to eat descent, stay in good physical shape and get adequate sleep. I get a little bug every now and then, but I see many around me that are sick (and sicker) a lot more than me.

Best thing I ever started doing was using the Neti Pot. These do work. I use it mostly after I mow to flush out all the allergens that get stirred up and I breathe in. Takes a bit to get it figured out and how to make it work though but once you do it is a breeze. Just don’t use tap water they warn against.

After having some sinus surgery, the ENT doc advised to stop using the Neti Pot, and go to Neil Med Sinus Rinse. What a difference. Crap build up in your sinus cavity's that the Neti Pot just gets wet and flows over will be flushed out under pressure. How much pressure? Depends on how hard you squeeze the bottle. I quit using the little packets that come with it, and now just use ordinary table salt. A Whole lot cheaper.

I was told by a nurse friend of mine that it's basically worthless. I was told it's the virus from the prior year, and by the time they make a vaccine of it, the flu has already mutated into something different. They actually can be worthless. They guess which virus will be around, and actually every virus that makes us sick is a different one. However, they are pretty good at picking them. I was thinking that they have three different ones in a shot, but I may have dreamed this. LOL The virus is attenuated "weakened", so if we are healthy our bodies will be able to build a resistance to these and not get sick from those particular viruses. I didn't take them when I was young, but when 25 I got so very sick ...over Christmas vacation at that. After this I started taking them every year. I've not been sick like that since. I would recommend taking the shot regardless.

How do you really know if you get the flu or not? I think there are many respiratory illnesses that cause similar symptoms to the flu. For me, they run their course in a few days and I never know what I really had.
I got the vaccine today, and got it for the first time last year. I am required to have it here at work. I got the "stomach flu" 3 times last winter. Lots of people think that's what the flu shot is supposed to prevent, it's not.
I don't expect any real protection, as long as it doesn't make me sick I'll be happy..

Since I started cutting and working with a lot of osage trees I very rarely get sick. I can't even remember the last time I had so much as a cold. My wife and kids will get sick and pass a cold or flu around, but I won't get it. The osage tree has some medicinal properties. I know the heart wood takes decades to rot away. I've never seen a fungus growing on it. I handle a lot of osage. I'm working with it 2-3 days a week. I know I breath in more wood dust than I should. I don't know if it's a coincidence or if there is something to it. www.globalhealingcenter.com/natural-health/health-benefits-of-the-osage-tree/

The flu is a virus, but so is every cold we get. Each cold is a different virus than we've ever had.
For me, the flu comes with fever, aching body all over, even the hair follicles on my head, and vomiting. It seems to be worse and last longer than a cold, but this might be just me. It kills thousands of people each year, but they're usually old or young people and often flu was just the straw that broke the camels back.

Well, I didn't get the flu, but I ended up with pneumonia now! I hardly had any symptoms leading up to it this time. Just minor dry/sore throat, and minor ache in my upper back. I started getting chest and back pain on my right side. It took a few days and I told my wife, this feels exactly like when I had pneumonia 2 years ago. I got right in to the doc, and he confirmed it. So hopefully catching it early and on meds immediately, it does not get any worse. Last time I let it go for almost a week, and I it hurt so bad I thought I was gonna croak. Doc says 2 days of meds and laying low, I will be OK to get on with life and even hunt if I feel good enough. Let's hope!

I've never had pneumonia, but did get a shot for it a few years ago. I asked them about another one last year, and they didn't think I needed one since I'd already had one. I don't know much of anything about pneumonia, but it must be bad.
