I LOVE my Wolverine boots from Dicks. Got them for like 80 bucks when I was a junior in high school. I am a second-year law student now. I've put them through working at a carwash, tons of yardwork, hunting, hiking, and everything in between. They literally have one tiny nick in the leather which hasn't affected them at all. Feet have always stayed totally dry.. Like I said, put em through two years working at a carwash...

Mine also have a small nick Or two I think metal, oil and concrete put a number on my boots

I did. They KNOW that product was a total loser. They exchanged them with out any receipt from a different product line with out the Durashock soles despite the fact I told them straight out they had sat in the box a long time but only worn for days when they fell apart. When did they start having problems with them? I have a pair here that I bought probably 9-10 years ago because they were heavily discounted due to a store going out of business and I have only worn them for a few days here and there. If they have dura shock soles, you better start wearing while they are still wear able.

I flat wore out a set of them from 2004-2008. No problems with the soles at all, they just wore down to nothing. On my feet 8-10 hr day on concrete 5/6 days a week. No sole degradation at all, that's why I was asking. These seem to be ok so far. I guess I can't complain much for a hair under $60.

I had 2 pair of durashock soled wolverines. The heel crumbled apart on both pair. My Dad's did the same as the picture Jack posted.

I've got another pair I've been wearing around the yard this summer that have done the same thing. They fell off the shoes about the first or second time I wore them, but it's summer, and it's not wet when I'm mowing or in the yard. I'm about to throw them away or make bird houses out of them. The uppers look like they are about a week old.

I decided to go with a pair of Dickies Brawn boots. I just couldn't bring myself to spend $200+ on a pair of Redwings that I liked. I might opt for a more expensive boot in the future but not having to make this quick of a decision. Interestingly enough, there were only a few boots that felt comfortable immediately. At $75 for the Dickies at WalMart, I figured they were worth a shot! And frankly, I was getting tired of looking! Well, I had to do a little search here as I need a new pair of safety boots. The Dickies I bought 1-1/2 years ago are still fairly decent but allowance has been made for a new pair. I just read through some old recommendations here and it's some pretty good info. My main focus is something comfortable and waterproof. Steel or composite will work. Got a ton of work on the docket and the boots will definitely be put to the test! First shot is to look at a few of the Hytest boots.

My hytest are wearing well. Had to replace the insoles and laces but boot and soles are doing well, still water tight. I do rub some conditioner on them couple times a year. Lots more miles in a day than I used to on concrete and RIP rap with oil and water exposure daily.

Can't go wrong with Red Wings. They truly are like walking on mattresses. I had a pair of Red Wing Steel Toed Work Shoes and they were comfortable. Not water proof but I was working inside not outside. They met the OSHA standard at the time.
