Disgusted, had a 30 yd broadside shot at a big 8 and the cap didn't go off. Bummer. Just like my bow when I pulled it back and put the kisser button in place it moves and almost falls off.

Mostly underwhelming sit. I hate mornings anyway, i prefer to be able to see when I call an audible and move like that. Saw roughly 30 turkey. A lot of sign where I hunted but my guess is the deer stage on the outskirts of the field and dont enter till dark. My mind was on next season already so Im not sure how much more hunting Ill do, if anything Ill sit a few spots just to observe more than anything.

Disgusted, had a 30 yd broadside shot at a big 8 and the cap didn't go off. Deja Vu all over again. Grandson had a similar experience last year. Decided he wanted to hunt with my .243. He was familiar with the rifle so I didn't make him check that he had properly cycled a cartridge. Well he hadn't. Nice 8 point comes from the west into an open field. I tell him to take the shot. "CLICK". The rifle was not loaded. The buck walks out of view and crosses the creek on the east. Climbed the bank and was shot by my neighbor. Would have been his first deer. Now that hurt.

Sitting on the food plot this evening.. the rubbing post looks like it has been hit. Oats are about 90% green. I can’t see any turnips or radishes so maybe they have been ate up.
I dont think I’ll see anything tonight as the farmer on the 80 acres south of me had a bulldozer in there all day pushing limbs and trees back off the field. That is only about 200 yards from me...

My neighbor saw the big buck yesterday in his front yard. No limping or sign of injury. Good to hear. Maybe this weekend I get another chance with my gun.

Went to my parents for an early Christmas yesterday and while we were there we swapped cards in the camera. In the last 10 days I had about 75 pics. All but 5 were at night. All does and 2 young bucks. Dad blanked Saturday and no deer were seen last night either. Must have found another food source.

He still won't hunt with the .243. Got his first with the same shotgun I got mine. He is a slug gun believer. LOL!

I ended up seeing a mature doe, a yearling doe, a doe fawn and a nice sized spike.
Had a decent buck on the camera but it was at night..

Looks like I will be going out again. A buddy called wanting to know if I had any extra venison. A family friend has fallen on hard times and needs meat. I told him to come over and I'll fill up a cooler for them, and I'll go out and see if I can get one to replace it.

Disgusted, had a 30 yd broadside shot at a big 8 and the cap didn't go off. Dang it! I need to fix you up with a high performance smokeless gun! I need me a high performing smokeless gun maybe? I feel like I don't see many deer during muzzy season. I may be wasting my money. But I don't have alot of faith in the muzzy I have now. I'm going to replace it by next year, just not sure with what.

Blanked for me morning and evening Monday. Great weather conditions all day. Tuesday will be another story with the snowstorm and high wind coming in. Showing sevetl stors this week. Perfect timing for me to be on vacation, and feeling sick and rundown now. Yay.
