Bearded hen is still in the field. She's probably only wondered 60 yards since she flew down. Other 2 have gone all the way across the field to a large grassy area. Seems odd having 3 hens go across and not one Tom in sight. This is the field I've been watching them go roost the past few nights. 4 Tom's a few hens and a couple Jake's. Who knows what's a turkey mind !?

It's a bust. Bearded hen is still in the field. Smoke her if she gets in range.

I already got my bird. My friend wasn't interested in her. Tried to talk him into it but, ultimately, it was his hunt so we left her behind. She was about 120 yards out when we left her

The woods around here are now officially "impenetrable". The jungle is so thick you can't even make a stab at hunting it unless you can find untouched forest high and thick enough to shade out the under brush or have ground that is well cut at least once or twice a year.
In the wild woods you'll be confined to walking horse trails and the illegal ATV trails. Anything else, bring your machete.

Same here in the NW. It has thickened up quick. We generally hunt fields here anyway, as that is about 90% of our land.

Yesterday gobbler went off about 100 times before fly down and another 75 after but he wasn't crossing a creek between us. Today silence. Hen flying down at 40 yards gave momentary adrenaline rush. Last I hunted a sunny morning was also quiet.

A buddy that hunts next to me took a double bearded Tom this morning with his crossbow. He said birds were gobbling all over.

I had 3 toms move by early this morning. They were in a canoe, paddling slowly & wearing hunter orange flotation devices. So I just waved them on by.

Lol, I wonder how high the creeks are, that I will have to cross to get back to the state ground... hope there are some wearing orange and moving slow so I can fill this tag that's burning a hole in my pocket.

I think that high water has had an effect on the birds we've been hunting. It's been deathly quiet here and they should be in the fields.

I think I'll get out a bit this weekend. I need to start on my food plot. Maybe the soil will be warm enough by the time I'm ready to plant the seed.

Had one going off since before light. He just won't fly down. Wonder if a soaked bird stays on the roast longer?

I had a fleeting opportunity at a bearded hen while ago but passed. That's the first bird I've seen while I've been hunting this year, on my 6th hunt. Still haven't heard a gobble.
It's mostly been terrible weather each time I've been out though.

Well guys today was my 2nd ever turkey hunt and it was similar to the first. Had a gobbler sounding off as soon as i got in blind this morning. I worked him for an hour as it was obvious he was coming though the woods on the neighboring property but headed my direction. Finally about 730 or so he steps out into a grass field about 80 yards straight east of me. He was headed south away from me though so i did a couple soft yelps and he sounded off imediately but kept going south and never stopped. What am i doing wrong here? This is the 2nd time i have been able to get them into my general area but then they show no interest and just walk off. I had a hen decoy out but its possible he did not see it from where he entered the field. Had one do the same thing last weekend but that one should have seen the decoy.

You might try adding a Jake decoy behind the hen. I've had a Tom ignore a single hen decoy but the next day went back with a Jake decoy and had him come running over when he saw that. And if he's entering the field from same spot I'd set up as close as possible to that area.
