Giving it a shot for the last time. I didnt get out as much as I hoped this season. The weather has really put a damper on the season and my mood.
My boy Luke was supposed to come today, but little league baseball wore him out Saturday, so after a couple failed attempts at getting him moving, I let him sleep.
Ponderosa is on the menu for the Mothers Day dinner, so hunting better be action packed quick. Lol

Went out yesterday knowing it was my last hunt planning to take any legal bird. Good thing my gun has a scope! Saw his little bird and the 11-87 barked. Have Jake remorse.......but I'll get over it!

Those Jake's taste better than tag soup antiwheeze! Besides, the trophy is in the hunt not the harvest. Just my opinion. Congratulations!

Still can't get them to come out of the woods into a field. Busted my third bird off the roost this morning, a hen 10' up in a cedar tree, unreal. It has been the same all season, gobbles from the roost, then breeding all day and move maybe one time in the afternoon. They also have been all over the place, TONS of birds in both my spots, lots of eyes. Giving it one last shot this afternoon. Seasons like this make me want to quit chasing them.

Bust for me, late to the woods, 6:40 am I was pulling down the lane, saw a hunter walking the road with a bird slung over the shoulder, thought it would be a good sign though my spot was still a mile further back. Heard only several faint gobbles and that was around 9 am. Called quits at 11 hiked back to the truck and took my hr drive home. Maybe next year... on to fishing..

Bust for me. I let a jake go opening morning, so I had a chance. Otherwise did see a couple toms, just couldnt finish the deal. We had so much rain and wind, now standing water everywhere, just made it more than I wanted to deal with.
