Well. We got it done at1050am. Saw a bunch of birds and they had their gobble on today. We called one in from my back yard into the corn field about 150 yards away. Gobbling and strutting the whole way. Hen just decided to go in yard instead of field I guess. But we pulled him away. Took about an hour . 24 pounds 11 inch beard and 1.25 spurs. Bil was excited and had a lot of action today.

Couldn't do live didn't have service. This bird and his buddy drove me nuts all morning. Finally convinced them to come in and 12:30 put him down. Other one just stood there after he dropped. Came in with another that was pretty much same size. Wish I had a video camera cause they put on a show. 10.5" beard 23 and 28mm spurs

I hope you find that time frame eventful! Good luck! Thanks! The first year that all-day hunting was allowed, I went out about 5:30 PM and had two toms come running down a large field hill to my decoys and I shot one at 6:00 PM. I've tried a few times late like that after work years ago, but never between noon and 4:00 PM. Instead of setting up and calling, should I be just call different woodlots until I get a gobble response then set up? During morning hunts, I just listen quietly for gobbles then scurry closer. Do they gobble on their own during midway (so that I can pinpoint them), or will I need to induce them? I've killed many a tom, but always just after daylight. Yes, yes, yes, and yes. Or just sit in one spot and call until you hear one and get going to it.

I cut my food plot today; it took 3 hours. Then I figured I'd set up some decoys and give it another try. I put the decoys and accessories on the mower to drive to the spot. Well, I thought I'd cut up some more clippings on the way. My bag of accessories got sucked under the mower and destroyed all my calls, shells and stand posts. Nope, I didn't say a bad word. LOL
I managed to get the decoys to stand up, and climbed up in the hilton with the one turkey round that was in my pocket, but I didn't need it. No turkey noise and I couldn't call either, so I just sat there in case one saw the group of misfits.
It sure was a beautiful day to sit and look at decoys though. I got hungry about 6:30 and got out of Dodge.

Headed out one last time with a buddy. Little frosty out this morning but barely a breeze. Hope they are moving well this morning. Good luck, hunt safe and God Bless!

Lots of gobbling this morning. Marked 5 different birds. Had some Jake's move through. Everything has gone quiet the past 20 minutes or so. We're giving them maybe another 20 minutes then going to move and call.

Good hunt, we were surrounded by gobbling birds. Seen a couple Jake's and had one bird come close gobbling in the woods but wouldn't step out. Things got quiet for a little while then we heard one drumming. Just seconds later he stepped into view with another longbeard. One was strutting and the other just walking next to him. They checked out the hen and then straight to the Funky Chicken decoy. Once the birds separated he leveled the strutter at 20 as it stood over the decoy. Decoy got smoked too! Lol! Beautiful morning and a fun hunt.

Yes, and I'm one of the just old Tom. LOL, better old than to have stayed dead. For sure. What a change it has made in my life and others. But: great for wife, boys, family, and friends that I came back, but I long for the day I go back to heaven and hopefully it's even greater if possible. One big change is my approach to life. One simple principle that is woven in me.. Do not burden others and don't have burden to you, but inspire others and be inspired by others.

Good luck all! Guy that hunts next to me took his mom out this morning and got her, her first turkey. Sounded like a fun hunt.
