I have an older Ruger Standard semi auto and two of the newer MKII target pistols with the bull barrels, A little Ruger Bearcat single action, a Ruger Single Six with both 22LR and Magnum cylinders, an old High Standard double action (old beater trapping pistol), and a Jam O Matic semi auto Jennings that is pretty well worthless, I got it in a trade for a junk chainsaw, and last a Colt peacemaker 22. That's about it for the 22's I have. I can recommend them all but the cheap Jennings. I don't know what they cost now days, but I got all of these under your price several years ago. I doubt you can get any of these new in your price range but the Jennings now and I would not even think of buying one of those . You probably can find some used ones for a deal if you look for them. I agree with the Jennings. The only round that mine will shoot reliably are CCI Stingers. I believe they are a little stronger so it will work that slide enough. Still wouldn't recommend it. My choice is the Ruger Single Six if a revolver is what you want. CCI Stingers are the only thing mine will work with, but it is still about 50% reliable. I know a guy that had one and it would go full auto on him. Pull the trigger and it would empty the mag if it didn't jam. Jennings replaced it with another piece of junk that would jam about every other round.

I have owned a Ruger MK I for 35 yrs and also a newer MKIII for a couple yrs. They have performed flawlessly and are very accurate and I shoot them religiously. If you decide on a Ruger MK ? I would get the new MK IV they redesigned it to take down with no issues. The MK III and older can be difficult to take down and clean. That my friend is no lie. First time I took my MKII apart I about gave up on ever getting it back together. Pride wouldn't let me take to my Dad and let him show me how to get it back together. After about 2 hours it finally fell into place

What are you going to use it for? You want a pistol and not a revolver, correct? Squirrel mainly don't care if revolver Didn't H&R make an 8 shot .22lr that had a pretty durn long barrel? Like 8" or so? If you could find one, it wouldn't be expensive, but I have no idea how they shot.

If you come across one. I would go ahead and replace the hammer spring and connecting Y. The Y is made out of plastic which breaks over time causing misfires. They're plastic and steel replacements. I can't remember exact cost but 20 bucks comes to mind.

I don't have any personal experience with 'em, but I know a couple of guys who have Heritage Rough Rider revolvers, and they like 'em. They can be had for well under $200.
I have a Ruger Mk. III. I took it apart once.....
I really liked the Browning Buckmark that I had sometime back. A burglar liked it too.

Rough riders are junk when it comes to accuracy
Stick to the ruger mks or single six...they'll outshoot a lot of rifles. Put a scope on them and you'll be amazed what they are capable of.
Some swear by the browning buckmark...I swore at mine, damn jammamatic. Don't think it ever ran a single mag without at least one issue. Tried many brands of ammo. Bought it brand new. Accurate, but unreliable

It's a break-action 9 shot revolver with wood grips. Believe mine has a 6 inch barrel. I don't think there are any plastic parts on it.

At the time I was testing most of the 22lr brands and taking this pic of the results. For exactly this reason. I don't remember what the results were now. I just found this one pic.
