I fall asleep out there sometimes. I'm a pretty light sleeper though. I've woken up to the sound of hooves coming a few times.

If I can figure out how to make my deer glow in the dark I'm tagging out every year 5 minutes after legal shooting time. Radioactive corn?

I normally bag my Deer during morning hunts, but have on occasion bagged some in the afternoon. Afternoons are mostly when I become sleepy and doze off in the stand.

I am sure it's okay to carry a book along [for some] But I keep my eyes peeled for Deer rather than read a book or magazine. NOW I have dosed off while in my stand, must admit to that, and once I dosed off only to wake-up to see three Deer pass my stand. It happens. You weren't dozing when you shot that wall-hanger in your avatar. That's nice.
I snore, so I'm not missing anything while I sleep, but because of it maybe. They never get close. I'm really not very good at spotting deer. I don't seem to hear them very often either. I hunt a handicap hunt at Crane, and go with a helper. This guy spotted every deer we saw that day, and had to go into great detail as to where they were at. I'm just not very good at this hunting stuff, but I love it anyway. My fingers get too cold for me to text when hunting. I'll occasionally do a live from the stand update, but it has to be a little on the warm side. My neighbor takes me hunting occasionally, and he likes to use radios with ear pieces. This might work, but I can't understand his strong Bulgarian accent, so I won't use them. Thanks, I bagged that Buck in the morning hours, about 45 minutes after I got settled in my stand. I really don't like bagging Deer in late afternoon, but I have bagged several. One Doe I shot several years ago about 1/2 hour before sunset, I had to field dress it while holding a flashlight on it, as it grew dark after I found it.

My smart phone is a very important tool I have learned to rely on for immediate information, weather, quality photos, directions ect. ect. To say I don't need one is like saying well my grandpa drove a model A so if it was good enough for him it's good enough for me, well I like air conditioning, heated seats and power windows. My phone with a double size battery was a free upgrade after 2 years with Verizon. Same here, I *think* I need the smart phone for business. Weather updates since I work outside, e-mail, information, etc. I suppose I could get by without it, but in todays society, people expect you to be more available than you were 15-20 years ago. I wish I had better reception in iffy areas, and because of that the battery drains down pretty fast at times. Can't throw in a bigger battery because the phone is in a waterproof case. I have one of those remote battery packs that will charge the phone back up relatively quickly. Here is what I have for a phone charger and am WELL pleased with it. I can get 4 or 5 phone charges out of it and it only takes less than half hour for a full charge WHILE I AM STILL ON IT. I cant make an all day sit without it,.. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MQSMEEE/ref=s9_acsd_al_bw_c_x_3_w.

I've seen them. I bet they are nice. I don't have a problem, but if I were to leave my satellite tracking on, it would run down.
