Back straps and deer sticks are on the ground. Freezer full. Only thing left is buck tag. Hope it doesn't end up tag soup. Way to go! You earned that one...

Looks lime its going to be getting real cold next week guys!!!!! Don't know if I can handle it. I'm wearing the same insulated stuff I've had for 10 years and it just don't cut it.. Try wool and wool base layers. I wear a merino wool base layer, top and bottom. Then a wool vest covered by a wool sweater. Base layers from KUIU and the other wool from Filson's. Ain't cheap but lasts forever. Then Onyx Artic Shield on top. Not a cheap set up. But I stay warm and dry. Sweat is wicked away for the long walks in. It is funny to see the exterior of my clothes covered in frost. There is a right way to stay warm and dry and in my opinion wool is the key. Wool will keep warm even if it is wet. I will attest to that

I went to goodwill and bought a wool sweater for cold weather hunting. I think I'll dig it out for in the morning.

LOL I'm getting ready to give it a try; tonight and Sunday night will probably be all I get out for this weekend. This has been a very slow year for you. Last year you were out of the gate running fast. I'm sure it wasn't from a lack of effort. When the deer heard about Trump winning, they passed out and died or moved to Canada. At least they don't have to fear being sterilized.

Well I'm now live from the E.R. Received a text while deer hunting that my daughter cut her hand while cutting Paracord for making horse reins. Had to leave at prime time, no deer, but taking care of my dear. Oh man, how is she?

Went to check out the new place today. Brought my xbow with all intentions to sit for a couple hours however I didn't. It will be a very good gun and muzzleloader spot but it's going to require a little setting up for next year.

I'm going out tomorrow, but not early. I think I'll set some traps and then get in a tree.

Wool will keep warm even if it is wet. I will attest to that Its the beauty of wool and Merino wool is the bomb! I discovered it a few years ago in smartwool socks. Cant afford many pairs of the brand name ones but the generic merino wool/ spandex socks are great. They are comfortable in hot and cold. My challenge has been oversizing my boots to allow for good blood circulation. tight boots and cotton on a cold day is a plan for a short or miserable hunt.

I've got the Encore and shooting tripod ready for tomorrow afternoon. Doing Christmas with my parents around noon, they are going to visit my sister in Texas for the holidays. Me and my daughter are slipping out back into the blind overlooking the food plot hoping they are hitting it. My little girl has a green light on anything and an itchy trigger finger looking for her first harvest.

Had to leave at prime time, no deer, but taking care of my dear. Oh man, how is she? Thanks for asking John. She is ok, finger is very sore. She was cutting some cord and cut a chunk out of her left hand knuckle. It cut a deep, wide V. They said at the e.r. with it all now missing they couldn't stitch it. So they put strips on it, wrapped it and immobilized it. Told us it will be hard to get closed and healed up. Don't bust it back open, don't get wet and watch for infection.

Well, my daughter has been worried I wouldn't get a deer for meat this year. So I put down the quest for a rack and put meat on the ground. 2 does came out in cornfield and I shot the bigger of the two. She is hung and cooling nicely in the barn. Sometimes I forget my wife and daughter love deer meat. Thats what it all comes down to, enjoying the harvest with your family.
