"Firearm hunts allow any firearm legal to take deer on public land in Indiana. Archery hunts allow any archery equipment legal to take deer in Indiana." Does this mean you cannot shoot archery at a firearm hunt in these zones? Specifically I'm referring to the state park reduction zones. The reason for the hunts is to manage the deer - i.e. deer cull because of a high population. The hunts are not for the hunter to pick and choose what they want to shoot, or what equipment they want to use, it's specifically to reduce the deer numbers there. With that said, I don't understand why they have such a late start to shooting time and why they stop shooting so early.... But, it's their rules and if you want to play, you follow their rules! I'm in for Chain O Lakes and while I usually use my muzzleloader because it's more accurate, I will be using the Tar-Hunt slug gun because of multiple shot opportunities.

Yeah, I don't care for the hours either.

I put in for Ptown early and Tipp River late, we'll see what I get this year. Cooked up the last of my ground venison the other day. Ready for another season.

Shooting time now starts the regular 1/2 hour before sunrise. That was changed a few years ago. The stop time is still 4pm though.

They told us last year quitting time was 4pm to allow employees to leave and not need to be paid overtime. Too bad they can't allow hunting up to legal quitting time.

When I hunted Jefferson Proving Grounds (Big Oks) the 4 pm time was for safety. Time to find lost or missing hunters. It gives them a few hours in daylight. When I hunted there it was still an active testing site.
