I saw that the properties available for reserved hunts are now posted on the DNR website, and they start taking applications Friday.
I plan on putting in for Big Oaks N.W.R. (firearms and primitive muzzleloader) and Spring Mill S.P. (close to home, know it well). I will probably be in Arizona during the late S.P. hunt, but hopefully will draw for the early hunt.
Anybody else putting in for anything?

Didn't see the list of properties - what link did you see them at?

Shame, I was hoping Crane would be up this year.

Haven't decided about putting in for Brown Co. yet. The last time I went 2 years ago the take was down pretty good.

I have switched departments at work. I'm down to 6 days a week and my hours are 5am to 1:30pm. I have no competition for days off. I will put in for Versailles and actually get to go this year. The harvest numbers mean nothing to me because of where I go. As long as some hunters show up and move around I'll have deer moving in front of me. These are the hunts where you learn to pattern the hunters, not the deer.

I see atterbury isn't even having a hunt this year. I have heard the deer population is down at Atterbury. Have you heard any reason as to why there won't be any draw hunts this year? I assume the military is still able to hunt there this season. I used to hunt at Camp Atterbury a lot and the military bow hunted there pretty much all season, they would put up trail cameras, blinds, and treestands. It was like their own personal hunting property lol.

I haven't heard about the handicap hunt at Crane yet. I'll have to inquire.

I've hunted Big Oaks before, but it's too big of a hassle for me to hunt over there, especially since they have some Monday hunts.
Crane is just down the road from me, and would be my first choice. I've hunted there a lot, but haven't been drawn a single time since they went to online applications. A few years ago, they opened up daily archery hunting to employees, whereas it used to be Sundays only. Couple that with crossbows, and it probably explains the lower deer numbers there and the lack of public hunts the last couple of years.

I don't know if Crane will hold any more hunts for the general public or not. They didn't last year, but still hosted the handicap hunters.
I enjoyed hunting Big Oaks last year. I only saw just a few deer, but had that feeling that a monster could appear at any time. Plus, muzzleloaders in October is fun.

I applied for Tippecanoe River State Park reduction hunts, both the early and late hunts. Easy 1.5 hours for me. If I get drawn for either I'll try to rent a cabin there. Also applied for a hunt at Deer Creek FWA. 12/6-7. Not a bad drive either. Hunted Turkey Run last year. They are having another reduction hunt this year. Sorta surprised me except I was told that only 46 were taken in the late hunt. Rained hard day two and the terrain is hard. Decided not to go back although the lodge was really nice.

Have grandsons, 16, 11 and 2 here for near on three weeks. One at a time and all at once. It is a revolving door here. Some farming. Put in beans. Deer are pounding them which is good and bad news. And lastly started sporting clays at the IN Gun Club. I am hooked! Did you get a turkey?
