So .... no clarification? No DNR deciding what is and what is not? Just a simple going by the letter of the law? Letter of the law it is. The DNR is bound by the law. I'm guessing the DNR contacted the appropriate legislators and they told the DNR there was no plan to make "technical corrections", IOW - they didn't want to admit that they don't know what they are doing and screwed this up .

I would imagine that you are correct..... Regardless, I have a feeling this isn't going to please several different groups. The "I hate gun season" crowd, the "I own a (insert caliber here) why isn't it included" crowd, and (it would seem) the DNR. In the end, if you are in favor of hprs and wish to use one for the next few seasons (on private property) you can and you have several calibers to choose from. If you aren't in favor of hprs, then it's scheduled to end after the firearms season in 2020. Either way, I'm keeping my .44 magnum rifle......

Interesting but i think I will wait to decide on cartridge selection until the "technical day" has passed to see if the politicians decide to clarify...

I am hoping that the 6.8 Rem SPC is legal. I emailed Phil Bloom to get an answer. The list of legal rifles sure got larger. Got my fingers crossed

I am hoping that the 6.8 Rem SPC is legal. I emailed Phil Bloom to get an answer. The list of legal rifles sure got larger. Got my fingers crossed Based on the latest info released, your 6.8 (.277" caliber) would not be legal. Only .243 and .308 calibers would be legal. I just did a quick count and came up with 20 some .243 cartridges and nearly 50 .308 cartridges that would be legal. I'm guessing wildcats in those two calibers would add many more to the list.

Thanks Omega. I read that release and this language: (There are other cartridges that meet the law’s specifications, and there are others that do not.) All of the 6mm are the reason for my finger crossing. LOL! Perhaps my .260 Rem will pass which is my preference, since it is a .308 offspring. Hope springs eternal..... Edit to add: Guess not based on the above posts. Back to the 12 gauge

Pretty specific when it says that nothing between .243 and .308 are legal. Maybe in a few years after the trial period when they go full Monty.

This is the stupidest thing I have seen in some time. You couldn't make this stuff up. The idiocy of this is overwhelming. I was more willing to give benefit of the doubt when it was 5 calibers but then this list came out and I'm just smh. Our government at work.

What's interesting to me is that a cartridge (.30 carbine) that has been prohibited in handguns all these years are now legal in a rifle when before it was the other way around for other calibers such as the 30-06.

The people making the decisions are idiots! Allowing a 300 ultra mag but not a 7-08, 260, 270? That's just plain stupid!

I'm surprised they didn't include cartridges in-between .243 (6mm) and .308 (7.62mm).
Now the delhema - I was planning on building an AR Hog gun. Earlier this year (before HB1231 came up) I was thinking of building it chambered in .450 Bushmaster, which would also be legal to hunt deer with under the old regs. But now that .300 AAC Blackout is deer legal, I could build it chambered in the Blackout which opens up the possibility of getting a suppressor in the future (after I buy the Federal Tax Stamp) and going silent mode...
Decisions, Decisions...
