How big does a perch have to be to keep here in Indiana? I've never caught one.

How big? What ever size you feel comfortable cleaning. Are these large enough to clean?

I used to catch and clean a ton via gill nets and trawl out of lake michigan. If they were under 8" they became fertalizer.
I have cleaned a bunch of 6"-8" though

Not much better eating than perch in my opinion. We catch a lot in northern Michigan, but have to sort through a bunch of undersized ones to get a mess of keepers.

FWIW, in a private pond, it's hard to keep a reproducing population of Yellow Perch sustained if the pond also has Largemouth Bass unless there is a lot of weed cover for them to escape predation. I have them in my pond, but I periodically have to restock with 8"+ fish. I typically stock pellet trained Yellow Perch so they grow faster. A 4#-5# LMB can suck down a 10"+ YP.

The reason I ask is a friend ( a term I use loosely ) owned the very last perch fishing operation on Lake Michigan.
