I eat quite a bit of deer meat. With all this news about red meat I'm starting to get a little concerned. I know it's not processed meat but it is red meat. I also have a history of colon polyops which adds to my concern.

I look at deer meat like garden vegetables. You'd be hard pressed to find any healthier food.

You'd be hard pressed to find any healthier food. agreed. the red meats they talk of I believe are your processed meats that have had additives put to them and from genetically "remade" animals (animals they have evolved for meat purposes). I think natural, straight from the wilderness meat is the cleanest, healthiest meat you can have.

I think you can't even put the two in the same league. As said, there couldn't be anything more natural. Even fish have more chance of being contaminated from all the crap dumped in rivers nowadays. If you are destined for health issues, get with a good doctor to do the needed screenings to try kand catch potential issues early. All the problems today have to be man made. My g-parents are in their 90's and still eat bacon and eggs, steak and pork chops, polish sausage by the truckload, beer, candy, etc. My wife's g-parents still use bacon grease and lard on everything. So, enjoy what you like and hope for the best but don't worry yourself to death.

I limit as much of my red meat to wild game and honestly try to not eat over the counter big store red meats. REd meat in general for digestive reasons is tougher and when I lost my 70 pounds I nearly eliminated red meat and never felt better overall.

Nutritionist that I used to go to told me not to eat more than two small helpings of red meat per week; I almost cried in front of her. I told her that I had just filled the freezer with deer and she said "no problem, you can have as much of that as you want!"
Comes from the fat content of the meat and that harvested venison is organically fed.

...harvested venison is organically fed. This is not true if your deer is ever eating corn, beans, etc off a farm using genetically modified grain, pesticides, herbicides, etc. The deer may not be injected with hormones, anti-biotics, etc, but it is not organic. It is unlikely any wild deer killed in the state of Indiana are "organic".

Wild game is as organic as it get but would not meet gov't standards to be "certified".-
It is a personal decision. I think you will be fine.

I eat a lot of red meat. A lot of white meat too. I eat a lot of meat. Mmmmmmm meat.
I'm 40. Blood work at least twice a year as I'm getting older to keep an eye on things. I took some time away from lifting weights after my wreck but when I lift I eat between 1-200grams of protein a day....some of that comes from almonds and eggs but the majority comes from lean red and white meats.
I care much much more about carb intake than I do eating meat.

It's my understanding that wild caught fish (particularly rivers) are some of the least healthy fish to eat, particularly if you're a pregnant woman. There is a reason the state of Indiana recommends you restrict your consumption of certain species based on where you live. in.gov/isdh/26778.htm

Its trendy....just another way to charge more money for food.
Like sitting down in a "fancy" restaurant and being asked if you want water or fancy expensive water.

Bad for you but still likely organic...lol. To my knowledge, animals that consume pcb's and mercury (like the fish in Indiana's waterways) are typically not thought of as "organic".
