I need to invest in a bundle of new broadheads. Just want to know what kind of broadhead everyone prefers and any suggestions on some new ones to try out? mechanical, fixed, cut. etc. What do you prefer?

I've tried quite a few broadheads over the years, but for the last few seasons, I have selected Slick Tricks to reside on the ends of my arrows. I have no love for Rages, even though I have killed deer with them.

If you want a cheap broad even Walmart has, hard to go wrong with 3 blade 100grain Muzzy broadheads. I don't know of a better broadhead for the money.

Out of my crossbows I favor the NAP Spitfires in 100 grains.
Short and wide blood trails..

I'm using Muzzy's but I've used G5's with no complaints either.

I have no love for Rages, even though I have killed deer with them. What kind of broadhead and grain do you go with? also what kind of bow I use the standard Slick Trick 85-grain broadheads. What grain you would use would be dependent upon your set-up. I use a program called OnTarget2 to tweak my arrow spine to perfection, and it took going down to 85 grains to do it for me. They are fixed, four blade heads. My bow is a BowTech 82nd Airborne rated at 350 FPS. At a 28" draw length, 52# draw weight, and 340-grain arrow (broadhead included), I'm clocking slightly over 300 FPS.

Any broadhead will kill a deer with correct shot placement. You could ask the question 20 times and get 20 different answers. There is always a debate between mechanical vs fixed. I've shot them both. I shoot rages now, and I have harvested 3 deer with them. The only negative I have to say about them is that sometimes the blades pop open when stalking. I like to keep 1 fixed blade broadhead with me if I plan on trying to move around. I typically hunt out of a stand and I just make sure I check them as soon as I get all set up. I have seen some rage shot deer recovered that I think would have been hard to recover if they were shot with a smaller broadhead. If you are shooting a slower bow I would stick with fixed.

I know nothing, but if I plan on killing something with it, I get the good stuff. Currently using the mechanical T3 red for crossbow.

I always used the 3 blade muzzy with my compound bow. Simple, tough, and well priced. You can get replacement blades and use them over and over.
Years ago I used the razorback rotating broadhead. I loved those things.

G5 all the way...I use the G5 Striker 100g...you can replace the blades...I like a head that is a cut on contact design...muzzys do nothing for me and proved it the first time I used them...go with G5...you can't go wrong ...good luck...

Montecs, slick tricks, steelforce, nap all have quality broadheads. Muzzy unfortunately is going down in quality since being bought out by rage. Both rage and muzzy lines are losing quality due to feradyne outdoors trying to improve profit margins by cutting corners in manafacture and materials. But muzzy is decent bang for the buck

Look at the Magnus Stinger heads. They have a lifetime guarantee on them and that is hard to beat since heads are so expensive. I tried the rages and did not like them. Mechanicals have to much rooom for errors.IMO.
