I just recieved an email subject line " Your Hunting License " from the DNR, it was a survey conducted by a virginia based company or something to that nature.
Anyone else recieve one ?
Just curious how many of the guys and gals on here may have been selected to do the survey this year ?
It took me about 10 minutes to read thru and answer the questions, seems like a lot of it was asking about Antlerless deer, big bucks, herd management and a few on season structure, one Buck rule, and had one about crossbow & centerfire rifles.
I would like to see everyone that may recieve it to take the time to fill it out, Its a great chance to voice your opinions based on the questions. Seemed very personal opinion based and whether you as a hunter are for or againist certain things and how the DNR is doing at herd management.
Just trying to check in and see who all filled it out and what you thought of the survey ?
Good Luck this season & God Bless.... ~INDeerhunter~

I just filled mine out. I'm also curious to see how many receive and fill out the survey. There did seem to be a lot of questions about the one buck rule and I also found the question about "earn a second buck" interesting.

I don't know if I was real impressed with the wording of some of the questions. They were asking for your personal feelings on how certain things do or might pertain to your hunting experience, but with having a lifetime license the antlerless tag price questions didn't fit. Also, I was sorry to not see a question on keeping the OBR, but creating a single season long antlered deer tag. No place for any "essay" answers, either. Other than that, I think it is a good tool.

Is this the one?
Please understand that this is retyped from the survey and conatins typoes..
The survey was conducted by the division of fish & wildlife through Responsive Management which is a Virginia based research firm. The go on to say...
"The results of this survey will provide the department with important information for deer herd management in Indiana and your participation is encouraged and appreciated"
It was a lengthy questionaire. I'l be brief in description...
which license did you purchase how many deer for each license what eq did you use to hunt what seasons did you hunt what county how many days how many deer taken during ea season did you hunt mostly on public or private did you hunt land owned by you or others was land owned by a friend or did you contract how large was the parcel you hunted
rate how important to hunt the following reasons - introduce someone to hunting, exercise, food, trophy, time alone, be outdoors, harvest a deer, time with friends & family, control population.
has your deer hunting increased decreased or stayed about the same the last 5 years.
why has it changed how far in minutes traveled to hunt do you typically take time from work to hunt how many days off work which season do you take time off for how often do you personally process the deer you take did you know you could donate the meat have you donated how likely would you be to donate if it were close to your home how satisfied are you with IN deer management
indicate if each of the following has been a major or minor problem or no problem at all while deer hunting the last 5 years; confusing / unclear regs landowner not allowing hunting poor ethics / trespassing by other hunters increased cost of eq crowding by other hunters non residents hunters not enough land to hunt land leased by others hunting pressure city growth / development lack of tropht quality reduced deer herd finding a place to hunt
which statement best describes when you typically choose to shoot an anterless deer; 1st opportunity evening generally regardless of season opening am of firearm season after 1st weekend of season after 2nd weekend of firearm season only hunt bucks but will take a doe during firearms season only hunt bucks but will take a doe during muzz season only after i take a buck typically dont take antlerless none of the above don't know
please indicate if each of the following would make you very, somewhat or not likely to harvest an additional antlerless deer; longer seasons free donation programs donation site close to home or hunting location if you had more freezer space shorter seasons regulations to permit use of eq not currently legal in indiana such as xbow or CF rifle opportunity to harvest 2nd buck by taking 1st doe (EAB) reduced bonus antlerless license
do you support or oppose OBR do you agree or disagree on the following OBR statements; hurts deer management increased number of bucks seen increased number of big bucks seen increased my opportunity to harvest the kind of buck i want increased my opportunity to harvest a big buck helped deer management increased # of antlerless I see taken away from my enjoyment of deer hunting
please indicate if you support or oppose each of the following; EAB for 2nd buck not changing OBR OBR for private only conducting 3 year study that removes OBR and returns to TBR that allows 1 during bow and one during gun/muzz to see if it changes the age structure
how long have you lived in IN what county do you live in

Did a lot of us get that survey, or has it been used in the past? I believe the rough copy of the survey that WW posted was from me (Woody please verify) if so I received that survey request back in May. Sorry for the lousy copy but my boy was in the hospital at that time and a detailed copy was not at the front of the line of importance. I too have received a email "your hunting license" today via smartphone but will wait till I get home to review and complete.

Just checked that survey, sure looks to be the same one. Wonder why I am getting it twice? UH OH!! Someone is going to be accusing people of "manipulating the survey" AGAIN! The first one could have been a dry run to work out the bugs in the system.

The Division of Fish and Wildlife is not the Indiana DNR. In fact, The Division of Fish and Wildlife is a pretty generic term. Are you guys sure this is something from the DNR and not just something some random group paid to have completed?

I can see what you are saying Mrfixit, it doesnt state the DNR, but it says that the survey is condusted on " the deppartments behalf " and when I followed the link it took me to the site that appeared to be tied with the DNR. In any sense I guess if its not from them then I atleast gave some group my honest opinions on how I feel about Indianas deer hunting, LOL !
It is surprising to see so many people on this site recieving the survey though, and I agree alot of the questions wouldnt fit all license types etc. , also having that many questions on " one buck rule " and " earn a buck " makes it seem to me "someone" really wants to know how we all feel on that matter whomever that group may be if not the DNR.
God Bless & Good Luck this season..... ~INDeerhunter~
