I've heard various reasons why. Persons walking around where they shouldn't be, four-wheelers and security issues. I'm sure the story will come out. It's just rumors right now. The Army has been working 24/7, so this could be the reason as well. Who knows.

I called there moments ago and was told it had been suspended until further notice. The reasons above were mentioned (hunters violating rules). They said they have no obligation other than putting an ad in the local paper notifying everyone of this.
They told me to call back Saturday to see if it was lifted.
I am (was) scheduled to hunt there this Sunday.

Yes, apparently a state hunter thought he could drive his four-wheeler under someone's stand in a secure/restricted hunting area. The XO and Captain are a little upset over the whole ordeal.

I truly understand the need to preserve security, but why punish people who have yet to set foot on the place. If there were rule breakers, in this case law breakers, arrest them and prove the point to all with the ones who commited the violation.

Another reason I wont hunt there any more is you guys who have payed your $40.00 to hunt wont get it back. They can cancel the hunts at any time and you are S.O.L. h.h.

They will refund the State hunter's money, but not the employee's.

as of 4pm there was no plan for any refunds per DNR... that sucks bad for state hunters, but sucks for me because I work there everyday...

Who knows. I was told that us employees would not get our money back as we have already got at least one hunt in. The ones who got drawn would receive their money back.

Man that blows. It sucks a few guys can ruin it for all, but I am sure the Naval Base looks at the hunting as a favor to hunters and if some can not follow simple rules it is easier to ban everyone.
Some people you just don't want to tick off, it is pretty sad....

They will refund the State hunter's money, but not the employee's. It says right on my paperwork that if hunts are cancelled for any reason that fees will not be refunded.

I left work early today But a buddy called me and said a basewide email was sent that stated
Due to the current security posture all hunting on center has been suspended.
That all I have for now.
