I'd like to keep a updates coming on Muscatatuck Refuge during this bow hunt if possible. I've read some info from the 1st day. Has anybody been in there since the opening day. If you don't mind keep Muscatatuck Deer info going here. THanks

I will be hunting there on Sunday and Tuesday. From what I've heard they lost alot of deer. But we have had some customers go down and see quite a few deer in the last week and kill one good P&Y buck.
I think it will still be better than hunting Adams Co.

Talked to an official there today by phone and was told they had 43 deer confirmed dead from EHD. She said only 10 killed this weekend by hunters.

Talked to an official there today by phone and was told they had 43 deer confirmed dead from EHD. She said only 10 killed this weekend by hunters. Call them back and ask how many deer have been found DEAD there... ;)You can't "confirm" ehd after just a few short hours of death.....they have only "confirmed" X number of deer!!!!!!

I'm planning on hunting the 7th,8th, and 9th in there. 3 days in a row. I know a few people hunting this weekend so should have some reports from them also. I know they got hit fairly hard with EHD, but folks the deer herd is pretty big in there. There has to be lots of deer left running around! Thanks for the reports

Hornharvester, Did you end up[ hunting over there yesterday? No, I didnt hunt there yesterday. The drive for me is 180 miles one way and the weather report said winds 15-25 with gusts over 30 and from what others said of not seeing many deer I decided it wasnt worth it. I wont apply for the hunt any more. h.h.

I will be hunting in there on Tues. and am looking foward to it. There has to be more deer in there than we have in Adams County. If I only see one deer all day, it won't be any different than what I'm used to and hey, it'll be a change of scenery! I'll be hunting with sportsmanslodge1. We'll let ya know how we do. I'm sure there still has to be a few bruisers running around in there and hey it'll be prime time as far as the date is concerened, so I'm still excited.

So how does it work when you hunt this place - do you have to check in first thing when you get there? Do they assign you a certain area to hunt? Is there anything else I need to know about prior to my arrival on Tuesday morning?
Thanks

No, no and no lol. You only check in if you kill a deer. There are "no hunt" areas. I *think* you are allowed to go into the woods at 630am.

Thanks varmint that helps a bunch. I plan to go down this weekend and do a little scouting so we will be somewhat familiar with that place.
