I guess I will just have to do my best to not interfere with their day of hunting. I don't plan to walk in there for the first time the day I will be hunting. With the work schedule I have had, this weekend will be my first opportunity to scout it. I will most likely head over there tomorrow morning since there should be less hunters than on Saturday.

Good plan, you can usually tell if there are cars parked in the area.

Checked the fields the last 2 nights nothing. I bet the geese and tree rats are having a field day they leave 1/3 of the corn in the field.

Are you going inside before dark or checking fields on the outside edge?

Outside. is where I check them but the fields are on the Refuge. One contects on to it. I just turn around in the field and use my truck since you cant spot light. I have been checking around 9 p.m.

I use to lease ground on the East side. I havent been up and down lake P. road much this year. So not sure what the numbers look like. Plan on going around there tonight and doing some spotlighting to see what it looks like. I've got the 7th, 8th,and 9th in the Refuge.

A friend hunted til 3 yesterday. Didn't see any deer. He didn't go to the spot he wanted as there were already trucks there, so not sure how it would've turned out.

I hunted there all day today, only saw 2 deer, a little doe outside of bow range, and a 4 pt. buck out about 100 yds. in the field, that was it all day long on stand, driving out saw about 10 along the edges of the fields on the way out. The big field right across the road from the damn of the big lake as you come in the main entrance, there was about 5 does out in that field, didn't see any bucks out with them or chasing. Pretty miserable hunt today! I hunted over near Shelty Lake (spelling?), right off the "no hunting" section. Good luck on your hunts and I hope you do better than we did! ;D

Also by the way... The gates open up at 5am, so you can head out that early if you like, and you have to be out of the gates by 7pm.

A buddy of mine hunted in there saturday. He took a guy and he shot a dandy buck i guess but couldn't find it. Sounded like it might have been a flesh wound. While looking for this deer they found a ton of fresh scrapes and good sign. I'll be in there wed, thurs,Fri of this week. Who else hunted in here this weekend?

I hunted in there on Tues. and didn't see anything from the stand in the morning. We sat till about 10:30 and froze and it was really windy. We were driving around and saw a dandy 8 in one of the swamps. Long story short, went after him and spent the rest of the day wandering around jumping deer. My buddy shot a yearling and hit it too far back, we tracked it for awhile and ended up jumping it 3 times, as well as quite a few others. Saw another really nice buck that we bumped. There are still a lot of deer in there, just not what there used to be. I'll be back with my muzzleloader.

I hunted Muscatatuck Nov. 2nd. I killed a 2.5 yr. old 8 pointer. I didn't see the number of deer I normally do though.

I hunted there on Tuesday and didn't see a thing. We got in the woods at first light and stayed until about 12:30 and went back to the truck for some coffee and to warm up a little and then right back in and hunted until dark. It was cold and very windy and just a miserable day in the woods for me. I wasn't impressed with the place and doubt I will ever go back.

Well my 3 day hunt is over. Started out on Wed. Wasn't in my stand 10 minutes,(got up there late)but it was still dark and heard something walking to me. It was barely light enough to shoot and saw it was a pretty decent 2-3 yr old. Shot, he ran about 50 yds stopped and started walking. It wasn't 5 minutes later and had another buck come in grunting. Never did see him. Just a little later, saw a doe, then shortly after that a basket rack buck came in. Shortly after that had another deer come in behind and turn and go north. I thought well better get down and see what the arrow looks like. Well it had a little blood but not a bunch. Went ahead and started tracking and went 50 yds and heard a deer over the hill start walking. I snuck a few more yards and found a pile of blood and and it was heading the direction I heard. So I went back to the stand for 2 more hours. Got back down and went to last blood. Went another 30 yds and lost blood. While looking for blood I hear a deer running my way. A nice 125-130" 7 pt ran by nose to the ground at 20 yds. Started looking for blood again and it wasn't 5 minutes and i hear another deer running my way. A dandy 140's buck runs by nose to the ground at 35 yds. Now thats 2 shooter bucks in 5 minutes I just passed. I'm getting all worked up. Well wouldn't you know it. I never did find my deer. So go back to the same area that evening and saw 1 spike. Thursday same area and saw a small buck running a doe. Went to a different area but close to where i'd been hunting and shot a doe right at dark. Started tracking and blood wasn't good, so I thought, I'll just come back tom. morning. So I went back today and after the rain last night I couldn't get back on the blood trail. Tried grid searches for a bit and couldn't find her. Went tonight to a totally different area and saw a doe and a yearling.
