Ummmmmm, T/C Contender, T/C Encore, MOA, BF, EA Brown, XP-100 (though it would probably be a custom chambering) just to name a few that ARE NOT revolvers. Yeah, yeah, yeah - you know what I mean. A person can look across the field and tell if you're using a Glock/1911 or a revolver/single shot. (Should have added the single shots in my original posting though - hell, I even hunt with an encore and forgot it. Must have had half my mind on a woman when I posted it.)

Personally i love the sound of a HPR going off! I just finished my 3rd season of hunting in KY, bought a very powerful 270wssm, i've yet to shoot it over 150 yards. I've taken approx. 9 deer with it, yet to have one take more than 3 steps after the shot. Most HPR's are exremely difficult to make more than one shot, some people are able to do so, i just cant accruately. Unlike most shotguns with iron sights where alot of hunters take scary 2-4 additional shots at running deer.

They make pump and semi auto HPRs so people can take 2-4 additional shot's no problem, especially when you consider that a lot of HPRs have less recoil than a 12ga slug. That sounds even SCARIER!

How many HPR do see w/out scopes? Thats my point. You may be able to take up to 5 shots accurately with a scoped shotgun, but most cant. Recoil is wayyyyyyyyyy over rated, i don't know about you but personally i've never ever felt any recoil when i was shooting at a deer, maybe afterwords but never during. Big difference shooting a target than an actual animal.

The reason I brought up recoil is because of muzzle jump. You can get back on target much quicker with a semi auto rifel than you can a semi auto shotgun.

There is no significant difference between shotguns and HPR's in terms of how easy it is to rip off second, third and fourth shots. It's more a matter of familiarity with the weapon, and you have some muzzle jump on both types of weapons.
A good man with a bolt action rifle can easily crank off 3 or 4 shots at a running deer, same as a pump shotgunner can.

sure it is Steiny, i can rip off 5 shots with a shotgun without a scope than anyone can with a scope at a running deer.

How in the heck does a scope affect how quick you can shoot?

your right Steiny, i guess i'm just slow, i have a helloftime picking up a running deer in a scope, fairly easily with done with iron sights or a beed. But i guess i'm just one in a million that has that has difficult time picking up a running deer in a scope.

Target aquistion is a little slower with a scope with some magnification but the whole sidetrack is pointless.

I agree with allowing 30-30s. I think they are about the same as many of the other calibers we can now use. Some of the ML's as well as even the new 20 guage sabots and of course the hand cannons are just as potent.
