We shouldn't really feel the need to justify our reasons for carrying a concealed weapon on our person while bow hunting. We do so because it's our right and that's the only reason we need give. I would love to hear the rationale behind prohibiting the practice. Same as almost everything... "We ain't never done it that way before so it shouldn't be allowed..."

must be rough living your life in fear of "what-ifs".................and coyotes. before ya'll bash me, I'm in favor of concealed carry, even done it quite a bit when working in "less than freindly" environments. Just never felt scared or threatened in the woods(day or night)

I grew up with a father that was an ICO for 30 years. You want to know what it is like to have loonies threaten your father or even you in the woods...I'll share all that you want. However I also think that it increases the chances of animals taken in a foul way, not to mention that ICO that walks into a woods having the extra worry of a handgun that they cannot see. Just my .02.

All this sounds just like the gun control debates that have raged on, just with the setting moved to the woods.

...and people look at me strangely when I tell them I CCW while swimming in Lake Michigan too... -------------------------------------------------- NIAGARA, Wis. - A man wearing camouflage clothing and carrying an assault rifle walked out of the woods and gunned down four young people who had gathered at a river to go swimming, killing three of them and wounding one. More than 100 law enforcement officers from at least 10 agencies searched Friday for the gunman, a middle-age man who was last seen near the town of Niagara in northern Wisconsin, across the state line from Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Officers set up roadblocks and evacuated an unknown number of homes. Nine young adults had gathered near a railroad bridge on the Menominee River when the gunman came out of the woods and opened fire about 5:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Sheriff Jim Kanikula. Authorities have not determined a motive. The sheriff said there was no communication between the gunman and his victims. The shooter was only 7 to 10 feet away from one victim when he fired, the sheriff said. On Friday, two of the bodies remained at scene about three miles west of Niagara because of fear that the shooter was still in the area. The dead were identified as Tiffany Pohlson, 17; Anthony Spigarelli, 18; and Bryan Mort, 19. A fourth victim, 20-year-old Daniel Louis Gordon, was wounded. Niagara is about 210 miles north of Milwaukee.

I'm in favor of caryring a legal CCW sidearm, but don't believe a hunting weapon should be carried during the archery season. I'm thinking of wolves spotted in the state or maybe wild dog packs would be good reasons for carrying a pistol.

You have to be how old to have a ccw in Indiana? I believe you have to be 21 to purchase and/or carry a pistol, 18 to purchase a rifle and 16 to purchase a shotgun or muzzle loader.

The age to purchase has nothing to do with when a handgun permit can be applied for, it's 18. Check the laws on 16 as well.

I guess I don't understand why anyone would vote against the ability to choose to carry any kind of gun while bowhunting. Why should the fact that one is bowhunting limit any of one's other rights?
"You don't need it" is not an acceptable reason. That's the way the antis start chipping away at your rights.
I don't carry any firearms while bowhunting, but I might consider it someday in the right circumstances. I think there are laws or at least rules against carrying slugs while birdhunting, and against carrying buckshot while turkey hunting. These examples are the same crap in my mind.
We need to resist big brother's attempts at creating laws to save us from ourselves. There is no law that prevents law-breaking, and you can't legislate away "stupid".

Jeez guys you got me worried about bow season. I think I'll carry 2 handguns. With all of these meth-crazed coyotes, assault rifle wielding psychopaths and the occasional big foots running about you would have to be crazy to set foot in the woods!!!!!!!

I don't see any need AT ALL to carry ANY firearm while archery hunting unless you are hunting in an urban area. Ahh you must not hunt public land. You should always have the right to protect yourself.
