Yes, you read that correctly. Virginia Tech is allowing a memorial to mass murderer Seung-Hoi Cho to exist next to ones honoring his 32 victims. tinyurl.com/282jlo "University spokesman Mark Owczarski said the student organization did not place or remove the stone for Cho, and would not interfere. "They decided they would allow the expression of grief to take whatever form it needed to," he said." In other words, put memories of Cho on equal footing with memories of his victims. I wonder how his victims' families feel about that?

If I were a family member I wouldn't be very happy at all!

I find it extremely ironic that the First Amendment isn`t being paraded about here as it is in the thread about the student arrested for writing the sick essay about murdering students, then having sex with the corpses.
The aclu, which someone in the other thread mentioned, would surely have a field day with the university had they not allowed this expression of grief for the perp-just as someone hoped they would intervene in the case of the student.

As long as the "memorial" is to "that Stupid Git"... www.ncc-1776.org/"My feelings are hurt! Nobody likes me because I'm unlikable! I have no friends because I'm unfriendly! I hate everybody! Poor Me! Boo hoo! It's not my fault!" But of course, it IS your fault, you stupid git. Yes, you failed to learn to be friendly, to become likable, but IT IS YOUR fault, you stupid git! Why didn't you read "How to Win Friends and Influence People"? Eh? Eh? I've got a copy I picked up for 25-cents at a thrift store. I'm hearby kicking off the campaign to always and forever more refer to that stupid git at Virginia Tech as "Stupid Git"—never speak his name, whatever it was; let it be lost to history. Just call him "That Stupid Git." Steal his tombstone and replace it with one that says "Here lies That Supid Git." ... (Okay, that would violate the Z.A.P., so don't do that...)

I could go on all day here. I will spare you the soap box and say two things: I am absolutely disgusted by this; and I am truly not at all surprised.

I think it's in very poor taste, to say the least, and an insult to the families of his victims.

So much for healing and trying to put this past us. That sort of %$#@ just opens up wounds.

480; the 2 events are about 2 different issues. 1 is about legality, the other propriety.

Including "The Stupid Git" as part of the memorial is absolutely disrespectful!!!!!!!!!!! Dark of night, frat boys creating ruckus on the other side of campus, artisan with a chisel. Then it really would say"That Stupid Git"... should be enough room after obliterating the original...

That is just horrible. But if I were a family member of one of the other 32 I would definitely find a way to desecrate it. Lets see, Blaze orange painted swastika. Eggs,

Unfortunately it is the worst thing that I can think of. Not that I approve of them or what they stood for. How about an upside down cross then.

Nothing but pure politically correct B.S., that totally disrespects all of his innocent victims. If I were a family member I would p*ss on his stone every day!

480; the 2 events are about 2 different issues. 1 is about legality, the other propriety. No legality in the memorial to the killer? Can`t have it both ways now-either it`s legal all the time, or not at all. Poor taste doesn`t enter into legal disputes.
