It passed a long time ago, and I believe they were available starting last June or July.
However, last I knew, Woody and Russ were still waiting on theirs, and they had applied for them quite a while back. That may have changed though...

Thanks, I just wasn't sure. Plus this helps end a long debate here at work.

Unfortunately my other handgun permit expired shortly before I applied for my lifetime, so I am not legal to carry if I wanted to. .

Finally got mine, after a fourteen-week wait. Applied 10-18-06, issued 1-24-07. The lady at the SP who answered my e-mail inquiry said they were running twelve to fourteen weeks behind after receiving the money order at that time.
Seems like a long time to run an instant check and print a little pink slip of paper, but I guess it's to be expected.
Glad they instituted the lifetime carry permits, even if I did think for a while they meant the application process was the "lifetime" part.

I'm applying for mine well before mine expires... 38 days and counting... 38 days to hope some lunkhead in Indy doesn't screw it up before I can submit....

I received my Indiana life time gun permit the first week of Feb 2007 ,applied sept 2006. You might say they are a little slow!
I might add what a sorry piece of paper it is printed on! Also surprised a photo was not required.as in most other states.

I applied for mine about 5 weeks ago, fortunately before my old one expired. Everyone I know that has received theirs did wait about 12+ weeks. At least we won't have to worry about it again.

I couldn't attest to the accuracy, but a woman at the Indy police dept. told the wife & I that our receipt for renewal would serve as our permit until the real permit arrived in the mail. It took about 3 months for mine to finally come. parson

Yepper... there is a lot at stake here.. I wouldn't think that just putting in an application wouldn't get the job. A few, but not many, get turned down. .

For renewal the receipt is good!.If you are applying for a renewal ,existing licenses are automaticaly extended if the application for renewal is filed 180 days befor expiration. A Copy of the application and the old gun permit should be kept untill a new permit is received.

I just wish we were allowed to have it added to our Drivers License just like any other endorsement...

I sent mine in the latter part of October.
That is pushing 17 weeks..
Mine cost $125 since my permit had expired - like 30 days before..
I think it is a flat $100 if it hasn't expired. Someone correct me if that is wrong.

Same here, Woody. I'd let my old one lapse several years ago.
God gave us right to keep and bear arms? Thought that was Thomas Jefferson and a few other old guys 8^)
