Took a broadside shot at nice buck at 50 yards about 10 minutes ago. He was with hot doe. Had to watch about 45 minutes before shot opportunity. Giving him some time. Was tough angle all bundled up and in hang on stand.

Hunted out of a blind this morning with my oldest daughter. A few hours in had to take a leak, so checked the hillside before crawling out the back. Then she is whispering frantically to me from the blind as two does go flying down the hill. I am still getting back in the blind as a nice buck, guessing 3.5 yr old 8 cruises through just below the break of the hill. She got the crosshairs on him, but not the vitals, before losing sight of him. I could see him plain, but couldn't get her on him. The buck was smart and stopped right behind a large tree before easing on. Then a few minutes later a couple dogs came through. I am proud of her for not taking a bad shot, as she said she couldn't see the shoulder, but still kicking myself for leaving the blind. May give muzzleloader a chance. She is 11, but has only shot her 20 gauge.

It's live from my daughters' swim meet today, as well as yesterday. I still hunted in the wind and rain yesterday afternoon. Dropped a button buck right at sunset. Wish it was a doe, but more meat for freezer.

I haven't seen a deer all morning, or even heard a shot.

Nothing all morning then had 3 does come running up over ridge to right (south) which is a bedding area. No shot opportunity. Then had another doe run right by stand coming from behind me. She stopped quartering away at 30 yards. First kill with my Savage 220 I won this year. She died in sight. Waiting just awhile to see if what spooked them shows up.

Sitting in ladder stand with my oldest. Would love for her to get her first deer. All has been quiet so far.

Nice 9 point cruised by at daybreak at 15 yards. I would guess 2.5 year old. Tall tines, but thin and inside ears. Hopefully I see him next year.

Saw nothing this morning from hang-on stand. Winds were erratic. Brought climber in to a different spot for evening hunt. Very quiet currently.

On my private land stand I get there at least 30 minutes before legal light. I used a leaf blower awhile back to clear a long path to stand to help slip in. But winds look unfavorable at that location based on current forecast. May still hunt HNF, getting there at daybreak.

I don't have a bow yet, so this thread keeping me excited for gun season. Just a few more days left to wait. Congrats to all who have had success so far.
