I've always just use my muzzleloader during firearms seasons, but now I will be using my Ruger SR762. Much nicer on the shoulder and the ears ![](http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t145/shuttered13/0122162150_small_zpsbcqlc72z.jpg) Very nice rifle, Alex, but better that you are packing it than I. Lol! My suppressed OBR 7.62 was 16+ pounds and I only tried coyote hunting with it once. A coyote rushed in immediately from my right, and there was no way I could swing it for the shot. It was a heavy, 1/4-mile walk home. Lol! Definitely not as light as a 700, but for shooting out a tree stand at deer, it will do just fine! I usually strap my bow/gun to my pack so I never really notice the weight when walking in and out.

This is purely MY OPINION: The DNR wanted HPR's last year, and are the ones who proposed it after they came to the conclusion that there were no safety issues nor any herd management effects. Then, when the vocal opponents surfaced, they lost their backbone and simply removed the proposal to save face. The DNR never said the issue was rejected, but rather shelved. Someone from the General Assembly may have approached the DNR and said, "Hey, just pull it and we'll imtroduce it next year as a bill." I still suspect that this bill had the secret backing of the DNR, even if only some of the brass. And we all know that the NRA jumped on board during the conference. Is my blackout in or out? I was a bit surprised about the 300 win mag. I have one, but wow! I'll have a 100yd shot at most. As it is currently written, without clarification, the blackout may be in. But there is a rumor that there will be a "technical clarification" to bill that will specify 5 individual rounds, rather than calibers.

I haven't read the final bill. Is this still for a special season that the DNR is required to make or has it been changed to the regular gun season. It was changed to just allow those rifle cartridges during the regular firearms season, per the latest conference committee summary, but the bill's wording is still pretty vague. The latest version of the bill is posted.

Direct from Senate and House conference committee reports: So, we're back to private land only, but it's state-wide. No more 10ft rule. No more purple paint. 10mm handguns allowed. A wide variety of .300 rifles allowed, and a few specific calibers. No FMJ's. I think this is a fairly decent start to widening the rifle offerings in the state. Is this official... Nothing has been signed yet. Nothing is official told we see it in the book as far as I'm concerned.

Not that you wanted to see..... Post some more useless data ...... Turning a blind eye to logic and science is the only point you've proven to everyone on here.

No .... Just post up the HPR data..... The subject of the thread!!!! Ok, here's some "HPR" data...

The data doesn't differentiate between slugs and shot, just as it does not break down rifles by caliber. Greg, what Alex is trying to say is that even though rifles are increasingly being used, accidents are decreasing. He's not saying that rifles are the CAUSE of the decrease. I get that..... But there no need to muddy the water with that info.... IMO It's pointless info and data.... What data do you want to see? If you want to see a direct correlation between increased rifle use and safety incidents, guess what? That data doesn't exist because there is no correlation.

Shot guns with slugs or shot guns period?? Most small game hunting is done with shotguns..... Just saying! The data doesn't differentiate between slugs and shot, just as it does not break down rifles by caliber. Greg, what Alex is trying to say is that even though rifles are increasingly being used, accidents are decreasing. He's not saying that rifles are the CAUSE of the decrease. He knows that's what I've been saying lol

Who said allowing rifles would make the accident rate go down? Talk about apples and oranges... I think you are missing the point...DESPITE increased use in rifles, the accident rate has continue to decrease. Therefore, you can scientifically deduce that the decrease in accident rate is INDEPENDENT from the types of weapons used. So explain how rifles or HPR done that ! ! I swear you're not even reading my posts or just blatantly ignoring half of what I wrote...

You mean where Jack interjected the term "high power rifles" when the bill has no mention of the term "high power". I have never seen a formal definition of what designates a rifle from a "high power" rifle. So I am guessing you didn't read the bill that explains .... LOL ok greg...now I believe you're just messing with me.

All I know is that people didn't suddenly get shot when PCR's were introduced, nor will they if HPR's are. The bad thing is if a single person is shot 10 years from now with a HPR, people will still say, "I told you it would happen." Lol! Hunting accidents occur regardless of firearm type, and sadly, they will continue occurring. Exactly..... Nor did the accident rate go down magically either when PCR where allowed!!
