Just picked up TWO Barnett Expedition 380 x-bows for $100/ea (reg price $322) from the east Goshen WM. I've been keeping an eye on these for over a month since some stores dropped the price to $99 and quickly sold out; while others didn't discount them at all and still had stock. brickseek.com/walmart-inventory-checker/?sku=769903033

As it has been explained to me, the Deer License Bundle allows an individual to harvest up to three deer (two antlerless and one of either sex) with only one license.
It has also been explained to me that if I use this license during Archery season, I can use it to take two antlerless deer OR one antlerless and one antlered. I can then take an additional antlerless deer if the county bonus antlerless quota permits (and this will be covered by the Deer License Bundle).
Are the above statements correct?
If so, my next question is this: If I take all the deer my Deer License Bundle allows, can I continue to hunt if I buy additional bonus antlerless tags and do not exceed the bonus antlerless quota in the counties I'm hunting in? Or do I need to buy additional Archery/Firearms/Muzzleloader deer hunting licenses once I've "used up" my Deer License Bundle?

In the Deer Hunting Rifle Question thread, you stated: "If the firearm is designed to be fired from the shoulder, it is a rifle. The firearm must have a barrel longer than 16 inches or have the appropriate ATF stamp."
The ATF says a rifle designed to be fired from the shoulder must have a minimum barrel length of 16" otherwise it must be registered as a SBR requiring a tax stamp. However, the ATF permits rifles to have barrels shorter than 16" if a muzzle device is installed, pinned and welded, bringing the total (barrel and muzzle device) length up to 16" without needing to be registered as a SBR.
1) Does Indiana law permit hunting with rifles designed to be fired from the shoulder with barrels that only measure 16" in length? Or do they need to be longer than 16" as you stated in the Deer Hunting Rifle Question thread?
2) Are rifles with barrels shorter than 16" permitted if they have pinned and welded muzzle devices that bring their total (barrel+muzzle device) length to the 16" minimum that meet the ATF definition for a legal (non-SBR) rifle?

In your response to my original question, you said:
Just so I understand correctly...
If I possess a deer license bundle and no other licenses, that would permit me to take TWO antlerless deer during Archery season plus one more (either using the "bonus antlerless quota" for Steuben Co. or during muzzleloader season) if I didn't take an antlered deer for the whole season. Is this correct?
I am confused because the IN Hunting Guide states: "Antlerless deer harvested with the deer license bundle must be used toward the bag limit for bonus antlerless deer,"

It states:
"A person must not wear or use a device to climb poles or trees or possess an ax or saw while in the field at night. This is to ensure the prevention of dislodging a wild animal from its home or other location where it has hidden itself for security or protection."
Wouldn't a deer tree stand ladder or a climbing stand be considered a "device to climb trees"?
Does this mean I can't possess an axe or saw at night, even if I'm chopping/cutting wood in the middle of winter for heating my home?

I use the deer license bundle to hunt deer here in Indiana. The Hunting guide says this about the deer license bundle:
The deer license bundle allows an individual to harvest up to three deer (two antlerless and one of either sex) with only one license...Antlerless deer harvested with the deer license bundle must be used toward the bag limit for bonus antlerless deer, archery, muzzleloader, and special antlerless firearms bag limits. When used toward the bonus antlerless deer county quota, the county quota applies.
Last deer hunting season Steuben county had a bonus antlerless quota of 1 for the season. Another member on this board says I could legally take more than 1 antlerless deer in a county like Steuben that has an antlerless quota of 1 with my bundle license. Is this true?

Few things - Even counties with a 1 a hunter could last year still harvest 4 deer before they even had to purchase a bonus antlerless tag - so it isn't always just look at that number and that's all the antlerless deer "they're" saying a hunter should or can (however you want to say) be limited to or should be able to harvest. Doesn't the Hunting Guide state otherwise?: "Antlerless deer harvested with the deer license bundle must be used toward the bag limit for bonus antlerless deer, archery, muzzleloader, and special antlerless firearms bag limits. When used toward the bonus antlerless deer county quota, the county quota applies."

I think counties would each get their own bag limit. Example, maybe 2 in Lawrence, 2 in Martin, and 2 in Greene. If you wanted to kill 6 you'd have to hop around to different counties. Not much different than the "bonus antlerless" quotas, just puts a cap on the amount of county hopping you can do. I don't see the point of adding a "cap" to county antlerless quotas unless the state/DNR is going to cede control of antlerless deer quota limit to individual county governments. Another possibility I can imagine is the DNR may think they are wasting too many resources trying to come up with county-by-county antlerless quotas that not everybody is happy with. To be honest, the antlerless quota of "1" they set for Steuben county last year was a complete joke. There's far more deer in Steuben county than Adams county (which also received a quota limit of "1").

What are they wanting to do with the antlerless quota system?
The proposed rules webpage states: "Add a statewide antlerless bag limit of six deer and remove the "bonus" designation from all rules regarding antlerless deer. 312 IAC 9-3-2". I don't see anything about keeping the current county-by-county antlerless quota system.
So does this mean the antlerless quotas are going to be regulated state-wide and permanently set at six antlerless deer (effectively deleting the current county-by-county antlerless quota system)? If so, this seems like a really bad idea.

I have an issue with the proposed rule creation in 312 IAC 9 that allows the DNR director to implement specific actions in response to a fish or wildlife health threat or disease...
My issue with the creation of this rule is it could give the director of the DNR too much power to make changes to regulations (ie: modifications to hunting seasons, bag limits, legal hunting licenses, and take permits) without any oversight from elected representatives or certified biologists. What happens if we get an activist in the DNR director position? Could this rule change give that activist director power to basically cancel hunting seasons as they see fit, using "made-up" wildlife health threats as an excuse?
I'm not totally against this rule, I just want some kind of state representative oversight (ie: a way for 'we, the people' to hold in-check an out-of-control activist DNR director; if such a person was ever able to occupy that position).

I've seen a lot more deer in Dekalb and Steuben counties this last year (2020-2021 season) than I did the previous year/season.

I just took it. Besides the usual questions about how many deer I saw and took during the recent hunting season, it seems as though they are putting feelers out asking what hunters consider to be "acceptible" hunting firearm calibers for deer. Some of the questions were very specific: for example, they asked what I considered to be the minimum muzzle energy of a projectile I would consider "good" take a heart or lung shot at deer out to 100 yards. This same question was asked for rifles, shotguns, pistols, and muzzleloaders.
I admit I had to do some research on the subject because, obviously, not all projectiles have the same ballistic coefficient. The baseline I used was the .357 Magnum since I consider it to be the weakest cartridge I would feel comfortable using to take deer at 100 yards.
Interestingly enough, during my research I discovered Brenneke makes a 28 ga shotgun slug that has some pretty impressive 100 yard energy ratings. On the other side of that coin, some .410 slugs match the muzzle energy of the .357 magnum, but because of their horrible BC, they are really weak at 100 yards.

First a disclaimer: I have not read through many of the posts here and really don't have time for it. I do not know if these claims are real I just want your opinion on the subject and do not want to argue or start an argument. Do you believe antifa started the raid on the capitol building? Or was it organied by the far right? Or what is your theory? Please don't be upset I just want your opinions. There were definitely antifa in the group that breached the capitol building. I've seen pictures comparing some of those "bad actors" in the capitol building that match up with pictures taken last year at various BLM/antifa protests. I have no doubt antifa infiltrated the MAGA group and egged them on to storm the capitol building. On a side note, does anyone else wonder why it was so EASY for the protestors to get inside of the capitol building; not to mention the general lack of police presence there at the time? Were ALL of the protestors that breached the capitol building antifa? No. There were some Trump supporters that were part of that group. The woman that was shot and killed by capitol police (Ashli Babbit) appears to be a long-time Trump supporter. Was it wrong to breach the capitol building? IMO: yes. But last year we were told by VP Elect Harris on down that protests were "ok" and "justified". I guess I'm a little confused about what we were told was ok and justified last year but somehow last week's protest at the capitol wasn't.

A couple of the videos I watched it looked like the officers were a welcoming committee and not trying to prevent access. I saw a video showing capitol police officers removing barricades (those portable fence/gate looking things) and then ushering protestors in so they could reach the capitol building. I wonder who let the protestors inside of the capitol building?
