Just sitting here in this cold deep snow board from no hunting action and was wondering if there have been any Hunting Forum gatherings in the past or any scheduled for this summer?? Mark T

It's been discussed a time or two, and some members have held small gatherings.

Mark,
We've talked about, but never had an "Official FUNction."
I've seen a number of forums try to get a gathering going with very little sucess.
As you can tell by some postings some members have gotten together and hunted then had a get together after season. That is great! New friends, hunting buddies and chow down guys.
Indiana is kind of strung out so any a gathering would have to be centrally located.
I am open to suggestions..

Woody
I don't know how centrally located I am but I would be willing to host one here at my house!! "Lafayette" I have a wooded 3d archery range area. nice spot to shoot clays and my wife can cook some pretty good grub!! ;D If it needed to be somewhere else I would make the drive!!
I think a day and a half gathering planned on a weekend that worked for most could be a great way to meet alot of good ole hunters!! Even if only 10 to 20 couples was able to make it!! I know I have drove 9 hrs to Missouri to attend such an event!!
Just a thought but It sounds like fun!! Mark T

Never works alot of people commit and everyone backs out. The best place is the shows like the deer and turkey expo this weekend.

Woody I think Mark is right.... just judging from the sucess of us waterfowlers getting together shows that the site has matured enough that people feel like they "know" each other well enough to have a gathering. Heck, we were able to get most of the wives to attend our end of season waterfowl dinner last weekend....I think that says a lot! Just the guys from the waterfowl forum alone would put at least 10-12 members there...... I'm confident that if we had an afternoon BBQ somewhere that we could bust some skeet and sling some arrows it would be a great time! I don't know what sort of possibilities are available at Atterbury.......or of course a members house would work too as long as they made sure their windows are boarded up and their fire insurance is current! I think it's a great idea!!! I'm RSVP'ing now!

Atterbury was mentioned as being the most centrally located place that had "outdoor facilities" that we would enjoy.
Maybe something right after turkey season?

I'd give it a few weekends to pass after gobbler ends....so that some of us can get back into good graces with our wives.....especially guys like John and Donnie! I'm sure that Kyle could hold a symposium on how to camo your goose blind with pink fabric!

I've driven 600 miles one way to attend a GT in North Carolina before, Atterbury is waaaay closer than that. Those with longer drives could carpool with others from the same area to keep costs down. I have a gas grill and a smoker that I can bring, and I love to cook.

There's a big shelter house at the Johnson County Park right next to Atterbury. I was there last sumer for a wedding reception. It could hold hundreds if need be and the range is about 10 minutes away.

A 3D course sounds interesting; I've gone farther than Lafayette to shoot.

Anywhere at Atterbury that we can bust some clay? Don't know when, but Atterbury F&W has a Brand New Range going up. Skeet, Traps, Pistol and Rifle Range. My son and I are up for a gathering. It's said that I make a MEAN BBQ Sauce.

The Atterbury gun range is being redone with about $4+ million federal dollars and hopefully will be complete this spring. It will have some outstanding clay and target ranges when complete.

Drove by it last weekend, it's not done yet but it looks like it's going to be a real nice facility. Covered lanes and concrete barriers between them.

I'm open for any time after turkey season except for the first full week in June. I'll be on a church sponsored mission trip that week. Do we need an exploratory First Annual Hunting Indiana Rendevous committee? Anyone want to take point man on this ?
