I get a little earlier start in the urban zone and I have been out this week. I hung a stand and checked on another on private land. I actually don't hunt out of them though. I just use them to mark my spot so others will know where I am hunting and then I use a climber on another tree nearby. Just got permission on a new place last night. I plan to scout this weekend and pick a tree for my climber.

I have all but one of mine up already. Been putting them up for the last couple of weeks. The one I am waiting for is a new area and I want to make sure the deer have settled in to thier pre-rut pattern before I scout it out to much more and set up my stand.

When do you start putting up your treestands each year? Mine is up in the Vanderburg UDZ. I'll put the other stands up in Warrick county aound September1 or so. It needs to be a tad cooler. Right Woodmaster!! .

Mine are out 365 days a year. Knock on wood, but I've never had one taken. Even if I did, I'd just fab up one to replace it.
I'm out on my hunting ground at least once a month in the off seasons. I continually keep up on clearing shooting lanes, keeping trails cleared, checking trail cameras, and checking the conditions of stands, and my duck blind. I find it is much easier to find the time to spread out the work over short time periods many times per year, then dedicating an entire weekend to getting things ready in late August or September.

I've got one ladder stand in the woods right now, but it's on the ground. It's primarily constructed out of treated 2x6's, and the platform is ~12' off the ground. It's HEAVY to say the least! I didn't want to leave the rachet strap around the tree for the year, and didn't want to leave the stand up for chance of a nieghbor kid climbing it and falling...
So I've got to figure out a way to get it back upright!

If I can get into the woods that I hunt I will put up my ladder stands around the middle of Oct. Earlier if I can get in. If not the one small area that is open without crossing thru a 20-30 acre field of beans or corn I will use my climber to bow hunt out of. Hopefully he will pick early this year. Yeah right, he has not yet.

Put mine up this week-end, but always keep one back in case I find a hot spot once the season starts.
