"Oo-ooh that smell, can't ya smell that smell..." The wastewater industry has always claimed that their end product is just as clean as before it was soiled, I guess now they'll have to put their money where their mouth is. ;D

"Oo-ooh that smell, can't ya smell that smell..." The wastewater industry has always claimed that their end product is just as clean as before it was soiled, I guess now they'll have to put their money where their mouth is. ;D Oddly enough, they are (usually) correct. In fact, treated waste water is ofter too clean (by EPA standards) to release into the enviornment. About 15 odd years ago Anchorage was forced to put fish guts from the fish processing industry into their waste-water outflow because it was so clean it was (supposedly) diluting the natural water and causing plantlife and fish to suffer. Also consider: In Desert Survival Training you are taught to dig a shallow hole, lay some plastic (like a split MRE package) cover with sand/dirt then pee into it. When done, put your canteen cup into the hole and cover the whole thing with another MRE wrapper, placing a rock in the middle right over the canteen cup. The moisture will evaporate then condense on the MRE wrapper and fall into the cup... 100% distilled.
