Okay, I read the post by Woody about the archery team in Ky. How many schools here in Indiana have the NASP (National Archery in the Schools Program) ? I can tell ya .... FIVE !!!!!! Okay, back to my subject. The local school here in Linton, is a participant of the NASP.....I recently met with the teacher about it. Seems the funding isn't there to expand it, or to maintain it. They work with what they have. The genesis bows are in good shape, the targets could use replaced, and the arrows need work. I am doing the work on the arrows, re-fletching them.... What I need is some ideas on how to go about raising monetary funds (the school doesn't want to just go out and ask...) and or services. (maintenance on the bows). I'd like to organize some kind of outdoorsy thing, since it is an archery program. I'd like to organize a Benefit 3-D shoot, or something along that line. Anyone know how to go about doing such things? I am usually on the supporting end of fund raising, not the organizing end.... Does anyone belong to a group or organization that would like to help the kids out? Anyone own a shop close to here that would help maintenance the bows for a small fee? The schools PE fund might as well be non existent, so anything I do, has to be fairly, well....to be honest cheap. Anyone interested in getting the NASP in your school??? Contact your state coordinator now! It is a great program!!!!!! I have contact info if you are interested. Thanks for reading such a long post!!!!!

myfwc.com/huntered/nasp/FundingSources.htmlToward the bottom of the page there are some funding suggestions. Grants immediately came to my mind. There are a lot of federal/state grants that you could apply to for funding for the program. Physical Education is getting a lot of national attention right now, so it would probably be a good time to apply for some of those.

I'm sure that if you talked to Sherwood Bowman, they would schedule a benefit shoot. Would probably bring in $500 or so.

I've been involved in several NASP projects over the years. tkaes about $1800 to get a school 100% funded. At one time, it was more than that. Donations normally come up short, so you need something such as a series of shoots or something to draw large numbers of sportsmen. Such as the trade and expos that are coming up. Just get a booth, and putt he hat out. Ky. can be your resource. Call 1-800-858-1549 and ask for Roy Grimes or anyone with the NASP program.

Most of those shows cost money to have a booth.
Are there any kids in the school involved to the point of starting an archery club complete with a board that would help take over the responsiblity of a fund raiser ? Is there any large local hunting shops that would help in the way of having a Satuday to set up a booth and ask for donations.

dbd870, the contact information for Indiana is: Indiana (State # 21) Indiana DNR Tim Beck 812. 482.3093 tbeck752@fullnet.com other states can be found at this addy: archeryintheschools.org/activea.asp?CompID=23&btnSubmit=ByFileID&cboFileID=5369&cboFileCategoryID=963Thanks for all the responses!! I am in contact with the state about grants, have the school looking into them now.....am in contact with a couple of organizations here locally and am going to visit the pro shops in the county this weekend...... Eventually I want to get other county schools involved int eh program too, but my main concern right now is to make sure the one now grows. It was started in hopes it would be an after school program. I'm looking into how to make that so. If I'm guessing, I'd have to either be certified or find some other adult to become certified as well to start because the teachers certified right now are also coaches of other sports and are very busy. If anyone has experience in getting a club started, could you please tell me steps to take to try and get an after school prgram started. Thanks! I know I have been asking alot of questions, and you guys have been great! THANKS!
