A Mercedes concept car interior.
Notice anything different?
Notice anything missing? v v v v v v v vNo steering wheel, you drive it with a joystick. No pedals either. Can you drive with a joystick? Your kids and grandkids probably can.
The influence of video games in our lives has really arrived, wouldn't you say

They'd have to make that stick really unresponsive or you'd end up in the ditch pretty quick!

Oh! I thought you were talking about the complete lackof cup holders! I couldn't get very far without my big fu-fu coffee, or later in the day my large slurpee.

Don't think I'd care for this design, anyway. It would be pretty much impossible to steer it with your leg while you're eating your super-sized sandwich. Probably make for a lot of accidents.

Since it wouldn't need to be adapted for which side of the road a given country drives on I can see where it would be an attractive feature for Daimler.

Bobcat skidsteers have had a joystick steering option for years. But then again they haven't ever had a steering wheel either.

Fly by wire, die by short circuit.
I like mechanical linkiges between me and the control surfaces.

I like mechanical linkiges between me and the control surfaces. Which is exactly why I will NEVER buy a 4x4 truck with a push-button transfer case.
